Could be, but probably not for anyone to use (other than employees testing) since Ford is supposed to be the first in line to get the adapters.

But yes, I would expect Tesla to "flip the switch" before we get the adapters. As someone previously noted, we know a bunch of people will rush out in the first 90 seconds after getting their adapter to try it. Having it fail because Tesla hadn't activated the chargers for it first would look bad.
Of course. I recall the rep from Tesla telling some Colorado county board members a couple months back that they’re staggering the opening of the SC network so that they can onboard the new cars at a reasonable pace. I’d think that was done so that they have enough time to catch any issues and make adjustments. I think that’s a sound plan.

That plans goes in the crapper if your first participant is slow to onboard their users…..meaning Ford is slow to roll out the required software update and free adapter. Therefore, causing Tesla to fall behind on their internal rollout schedule.

Hopefully, Ford has been coordinating with Tesla to create a seamless rollout that allows Tesla to catch any problems in a timely manner before they onboard GM and Rivian while also not causing the GM and Rivian rollouts to be pushed back.

So the new “posting a tweet” is “popping a Xit”?? ?
the emerging usage is more toward the original spanish pronunciation:

X As [sh]
Finally, we can’t forget that some place names originating from indigenous languages still keep the original [sh] pronunciation of la equis. That’s the case for the Guatemalan city Xela or Punta Xicalangó in Mexico.

Having access to the Supercharger in Emporia, Kansas, almost exactly in the middle of the 180 mile trip from Wichita to Kansas City, would be very helpful to me. Especially since, after three years of ownership, there is still no CCS there. I routinely roll into KC on less than 10%.

As for price, the EVgo stations in KC charge 56 cents per kWh (plus a 99 cent "session fee" - which is kinda funny). That's almost double the price of gas. Can Superchargers be worse than that?

Yeah EvGo charges that "session fee" in Jacksonville, FL as well. I noticed it on my last stop in Dec 2023. However, the EA station on the other side of Jacksonville doesn't charge a "session fee".

all CPOs have their own business model for charging and i'm sure they are all watching each other to see what works best. they are also limited by some legal/regulatory regimes (i.e. time based rates vs per KWh rates).

EVgo currently has three:
  1. "pay as you go" level a ~$1/session fee with higher per KWh rates
  2. "member" level with a $~5/month pre-paid credit plus a haircut on per kWH rates
  3. "plus" level with a ~$7/month subscription plus a bigger haircut on per kWH rates
EA has (at least) two:
  1. "membership" with a $4/month fee and a haircut on per KWh rates
  2. "pay as you go"
    1. app based with high per KWh rates and $10 increments charged to your credit card and carries a balance
    2. per-session credit card reader at the pump with high per KWh rates
tesla has (mostly) reasonable per KWh rate on a per-session basis and a $13/mo membership with haircut on per KWh rate.

choose your poison.

the others are all over the board and, just like gas prices, it appears they've all localized pricing on per KWh where they can.

I'll pay extra for the convenience. Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania toll roads have Superchargers in their trtavel Plazas. EA and EVgo, you have to exit the Turnpike...

Not totally true. Indiana. Ohio and Pennsylvania have and/or are installing CCS1 chargers at their travel plazas. I have seen them first hand.

Thanks for reminding me I need to re-up my EVgo membership level for our trailer trip.

I may sound like a broken record, but I can set my watch by it, but there will be people in EA whom will post to this forum 4 to 6 months from and say that they still haven't received the update. That's more of a reflection on Ford not being very good at software update rollouts as Tesla. And that sucks bc this update very important.
Sometimes people just don't know what they're talking about. I've seen people say that and then realize they were booted from EA (I was dropped without notice too but sent an email and was re-admitted).

Also, Tesla has had some not-insignificant eff-ups with software roll-outs.

I don't disagree with your statement. I would imagine that some of those who have made those comments aren't in EA; but I don't know the exact number.

I feel like we can all admit that Ford's rollout of software updates does leave somethings to be desired. They're certainly better than GM, Hyundai and several other manufacturers, but Ford can and should do better in terms of rolling out updates.

No disagreements. I think Ford is just mired in bureaucracy which makes them slow to react and nondescript with release notes (I think most would agree that's 95% of the problem).
