You have probably figured out that I just can’t leave anything alone. My car has been mostly blacked out for a while now, except those white lenses on the taillights were bothering me. If they were red, they would have gone with the black and red theme. But white??? Well I had some leftover tint from the headlights so I decided to give it a try.
I really like the results.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Taillight tint 5A5FB8F3-FF94-47D1-9985-92ED3C41B006

Left lights tinted and right not.
Before everyone gets up in arms about dimming the lights and the safety factors:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Taillight tint F9B5E351-C7EA-4A26-A80B-0030223A827B

Here are the lights on. Still with left tinted and right not tinted. So with a better look and no appreciable change in the lighting, I finished tinting all the rear lights.

I’ll admire yours blacked out. I got busted in my Fusion Energi. Had to replace the entire light assemblies to the tune of over $1600.00 pre-tax. Cops in my town…

If any of the local law enforcement have any say, I can peel the plastic tint off before they finish writing the ticket. But once the lights are on, you can’t tell the tint is there. So I doubt they’ll even notice. That’s my plan anyway.

@HuntingPudel just double checked. In NYS the Vehicle and Traffic Code simply says the lights have to be red and visible at 1000 feet. So my tint should be legal.

That looks awesome. I have always hated the white since we saw it pre-production. Held out hoping it would change, but alas…

On the plus side I think the Premium headlights on the front are some of the nicest on the road. Just wish I didn’t have to always view them as reflections at stop lights ?!!

Get your wife or a friend to drive behind you at day and night to just check that you are indeed visible enough. Maybe also check it in the rain. Outside of that, it looks really really good.

The photo on the top post of the thread is with the left tinted and the right not tinted. So this light smoke doesn’t change the it perceptibly. I checked tinted versus Not tinted before I even finished my car. Just in case it was too much darkening.

Install then trim. I happen to have access to some very sharp implements.

Instead of going darker en went for the blood look

Personally I never really liked the white on white look of the taillights and full dark on white didn't do it for me either. Dark red taillights on white cars I always fancied so I ordered a strip of "dark" translucent (90%) red wrap for $ 15 and gave it a try myself.

Although it was my first "wrapping" experience i'm very pleased with the result.
The center brakelight will be done soon too but I ran out of wrapping material.
