As a Tesla owner from 2015 until just a few months ago, with versions of "autopilot" and "FSD" from the very first through nearly the latest: it's a scam, it's made to let Elon and his pet influencers make carefully edited 30 second videos, it screws up all the time, it still hasn't delivered on promises Elmo made for v1 in 2015-2016, and BlueCruise, especially the version in the 2025 Mach-E, is eminently preferable.

Not to mention the rest of the public being unauthorized crash dummies.

My feeling is that it is some of the best tech around(in the US), but controlled by people that don’t have the right safety mindset and are counting on the fact that the driver, not the company, will be responsible for any accidents.

I find it ironic that the China is leading the industry to make this safer.
I had a conversation the other day with a guy who has a 2020 Model S.

He said he refuses to get a newer one because of the eye cameras.

Why? Because he puts a weight on the steering wheel, pulls out his laptop and reads and replies to emails while the car drives. He claims he doesn’t even look up until the car tells him he’s at his destination. Been doing this for years.

Oh, and he is absolutely sure that it’s ā€œcompletely safe.ā€ 😳

I wouldn’t care as much if there weren’t other people on the highway as well. It feels like he’s been completely brainwashed to think this IS safe.

From what I have seen the Equinox is getting great range. Chevy is more like Ford, the range is more realistic than the competition.

I’ve done a few drives on FSD v13 on HW4 cars and it’s truly an amazing party trick. It works fantastically right up to the moment it tries to kill you.

Honestly, it’s somewhat stressful to use because you have to babysit its driving the entire time. However, I think for certain people FSD is a good tool to have because there’s a lot of scary drivers out there for whom FSD would actually be an improvement.

If you want to claim Ford should license from someone else just pick any of the Chinese companies way ahead of Tesla…..
Nope. I definitely don’t need CCP software in my car.

1) FSD might be good for long trips, but as a recent FSD video showed, things still happen and can cost money. Hence, with this update, I imagine all the bad publicity from the video (Youtube Link).

2) I actually like driving, I'm good with cruise control, and adaptive cruise control (I still leave a large gap between the cars), but I am always skeptical of it. Sometimes technology doesn't work, and I don't want that to be the reason for a loss of life (mine or others)!

3) Highly skeptical of everything TESLA, and am 1,000% happy waiting for Ford, GM, and BYD options to become available to me.

I think our brains just aren’t wired to do this sort of risk analysis competently.

Carefully supervising FSD and being ready to engage immediately especially when it has done this exact drive correctly several times before is asking way too much of the Average Joe.

The EU did the right thing here. Random schmucks should not be beta testers of a device that can end lives.

This is seriously Deja Vu.

Last time tax credits were going away, everyone predicted EV prices would go up significantly and almost by magic, the day the credits expired, everyone dropped their prices significantly.

And now it’s happening again.

Either someone is lying or someone is ripping us off.

🄱. Let me know when it’s fully autonomous with no attention required and Tesla takes liability for any accidents.

If I need to pay attention then I might as well just drive the car myself.

Same thing with Blue Cruise. What am I going to do with my hands off the wheel if I can’t use them to do something else? Rest them on my lap? Might as well just rest them on the wheel and not have to pay for it.
I have a 2.5 hour drive I make at least a dozen times/year. Over 2 hours of it are on hands-free interstate with Blue Cruise. When I don't use BC, I get to my destination feeling like I drove 2.5 hours, and find a nap is useful. When I use BC (nearly always now when available), it seems like a 30 minute drive and I am raring to go at my destination. Just resting my hands on the arm rest or lap, and feet lightly on the pedal and floor does wonders for reducing the drive effort. When the road is very "tame" with no close traffic or other concerns, I also love to take in the scenery much more, up to the limit of the BC warning to keep my eyes on the road. Spending a couple seconds looking at something away from the road is so much better than a quick glance that I might allow myself while I am in control.

I, too, love driving, but prefer twisty mountain 2 lanes where BC doesn't work anyway to have my driving fun, and find interstate driving boring for the most part, gladly letting BC help.

It’ll be two more years before I move into an electric one again. I gotta get out of this gas powered lease. I have seems like you can’t trade this lease in without having to come out of your pocket with a bunch of money. Anyways, I’m hoping by then prices will have figured their way to a place where electric cars are actually more affordable than gas. My question is what is wrong with those low priced Dodge Challenger chargers I see on here and why would nobody be able to work on those? Are they that rare that nobody knows anything about them means it’s an awful good price for a nice muscle car.

Full Self Driving? šŸ˜„

155729-74511fdb7be137749f7439bcc86861d0.webp
According to my neighbor the FSD if that is full self driving lol, he has it in his 2019 Tesla, which he never purchased it. He said somehow it came with it and it was never taken off or none of the updates that he’s gotten since 2019 is wiped it out and that’s one reason he said he won’t sell that car because that’s like a $10,000 option if you pay it Full I’m like almost fell over when he told me how much that cost I’m like are you kidding me?
