low blow my man.

Try, fail, learn, try again, rinse and repeat until you get it right. This is just a part of the process.

Not an Elon fan..but this isn't really a fair take.
I mean, the ego at the top basically begs for low blows since he spins everything all the time to be a success no matter what... According to that ego, this ship was supposed to have landed on Mars by 2016 (then 2018, then...). Even though I feel badly for the engineers, I have zero compunction about mocking the CEO.

Ouch to anyone buying a '23 mach-e here soon..yikes
Elon is absolutely torching my pending trade in value on my Model Y. This ability to scale prices up and down - while it creates anger among those who paid a higher price - is the nimbleness Ford can never have with the dealer sales model.

While my '22 Lightning was super quick (3 months from build to delivery).
You got lucky and so did I. Some of the MY2023 Lightning deliveries have been really slow.

How about ā€œWe'll be able to do a demonstration guide of full autonomy all the way from LA to New York. So basically from home in LA to Times Square in New York. And then have the car go and park itself by the end of next year,"
He said that in 2016.

This is inaccurate description of the philosophy at NASA. This is the philosophy at Congress, which controls NASA's budget, but it's not the philosophy at NASA.
I found the book "escaping gravity" informative. The NASA culture didn't look too attractive.

Yup, he sure did, and it didn't come to pass. But they're making progress with every update. He really over promised, but they haven't abandoned it. They failed, but learned from each update and improved. I wish Ford would do that with the 5 sec power limiter.

depends what your goals are.

do you want to get there in 20 years but have no failure during testing?

or get there in 5 years but have failures along the way.

different philosophy. SpaceX believes in the latter. NASA believes in the former.
For sure a difference in philosophy.

Unfortunately for us, they have the same philosophy with their automobiles. Tesla drivers get to be the Beta testers on safety.

Sure you kill a few dozen people on the way, but you get there faster!

Are there any deaths with FSD? There are a few with AP, but how many with FSD?
How does that compare with plain old cruise control? How does that compare to not using any assisted driving?

If it's truly as bad as you say, why hasn't NHTSA outright banned it? or put more strict regulations?

Pretty much the Amazon model. Hopefully, other Automanufacturers will follow leading to more competition and lower prices overall.

The way I see it is that even though your trade-in is worth less, it doesn't cost you as much to get another one. Evens out in the end. Same thing when the market was hot. Got more when you sold, but you had to get another car to replace it, and there were dealer markups galore. So it was a wash.

Technically Mach-E is losing EV market share too (Bolt eating Ford’s lunch and numerous competitors ramping up production like VW and BMW) so I guess by the arguments above it is faltering.
Agree - I am no longer excited to wait for my 54+ week ordered MME.

After all the ups and downs with the tax credit, pricing changes, etc ....

This weekend we are going to take a look at the BMW i4, Mercedes EQB, and VW iD4 Pro S since they offer full $7500 tax credit for a lease.

This half tax credit has turned me off!

Gee, do you think he might have been lying? Trying to line his pockets at the expense of gullible car buyers and stock investors?

Nah, that's just crazy talk. Forget I said anything.

And yet, they're still the most valuable car manufacturer. Hmmm. Perhaps all those investors see something worth investing in.

As the old say goes, "Put your money where your mouth is. "

Sure, but scumbags for different reasons and with drastically different results. None of the others ended up with a 150 billion net worth using mostly government money to get there.
So you think the guy thatā€˜s using the ZEVcredits to fight climate change allowing him to build more EVs than any other company is scummier than the guys using the same exact credits to dump more CO2 into the environment. Did I get that right?

No, they all suck.

Not sure how bringing up ā€œother scumbagsā€ makes Musk somehow in the right.

Reminds me of my kids trying to say ā€œat least I’m not smoking crackā€ when they get in trouble.

Does it matter if it’s FSD or AP that kills the driver?

The point was about philosophy. And it’s pretty clear how Musk sees things as expendable and is willing to take high risks in order to achieve his goals. It’s just another symptom of his narcissistic tendencies.

But just because he’s brainwashed his employees to cheer when a $3 billion rocket explodes doesn’t mean the rest of of us have to buy the BS.

Pretty obvious what a failure looks like. He tries to change the narrative as ā€œa learning experience.ā€
