Wow, EVGo is sparse in your area. We have a lot in So Calif.
unfortunately, EVgo didn't have a court-ordered $2 billion venture capital fund for their build-out.

Membership at every charging provider gives discounts unlike FordPass. EA and Tesla: about 25-30% , EVGo has couple levels:10-30%.
autocharge+ allows to have plug and play functionality and EVGo membership pricing
Every? No even close. ChargePoint? Shell? FPL?

EVgo is the model to use for independent charging companies. Their equipment reliability is top notch, even with very heavy use. Autocharge+ works seamlessly nearly all the time (I had one issue after 50+ times, and it was charger related). I have the $12.99 monthly subscription and use them exclusively.

I wish their equipment is faster and more available on highways, not just cities.
They opened 25 Pilot/Flying J sites late last year and are adding 175 more this year.

I don't know when you can actually find a charging station here in Southern California mainly either LA or Orange County when you can find one that's select primary or Eco or connect point. They generally all work exactly the same but tough question here is it most of the time you find them in a state of error and then the lines begin most areas provide anywhere from 2 to 6 electrify America stations for fast charging or connect point you might get up to six . This is just my own personal observations in the various areas I go I found though that most of them don't work I even have an EV go about two blocks from my house but I have yet in the year and a half it's been there actually get it to work with Amy don't know why I've called the many times had them reset the charger but for whatever reason my 21 GT doesn't want to charge with that particular station. Even the places I used to go early in the morning like electrify America at five in the morning or now awaiting game as you have any Ford transit vans and others charging up for their daily work thankfully we have solar on our roof and that does help but for long trips it makes it kind of scary I am looking forward to having the adapter for the Tesla supercharge network as another way of bringing that stress down a little bit when you're traveling outside the normal range of use I know people that charge on Tesla superchargers all the time and I've never heard any complaints.

Yes. This^^ is what I have frequently encountered on my road trips since last May. More EVs using all 6 of the charging stalls at the EvGo I frequent during my road trips. And so I end up having to wait when I didn't have to wait in the spring of 2022 or 2023. And then I encounter the Ford transit vans, usually Walmart delivery folks or other companies, as you mentioned as well as the Uber and Lyft drivers recharging to 100% between their rides. So for me and it seems like you as well, access to the Tesla super chargers may provide some relief.

Unfortunately, across the northern states there appears to be only one EVGo station (in Roseville, MN - inconveniently located on the other side of the Metro from me) from Wisconsin to the Idaho/Washington border. :(
Going to be similar here on the south metro of the cities, traveling to WI regularly. Will get used to it, just not the experience that I'm used to so far.

I just skimmed the thread - is there a TL:DW write up? Was it done fairly - including the time trying to find a working charger, waiting in line taken into consideration, overall top to bottom experience. Personally I could care less about plug and charge as long as I have just a couple of clicks on an app.
  1. Just make the experience work the first time, every time.
  2. Put the chargers where I need them when traveling.
  3. Make owning my EV easy.
  4. I want to say make charging reasonably priced, but none of them are outrageously expensive and owning an EV isn't about being cheaper, not when I'm on a road trip. I'll pay the premium every time for the above 3 bullets. If I'm not traveling I don't care, I charge at home.

OK, I’m talking about major players. But loosing membership benefits when using directly Ford plug and charge is costly for many of us.

Yeah, I go to Madison now and again because my son goes to UW-Madison. I start at 100% at home and have to stop at EAs in Eau Claire and Tomah. Tesla opening up will give me more options, and hopefully, one fewer stop to charge on the way there and the way back.

I’m hoping the plug n charge via Ford Pass works well. I will be doing 90% of my charging at home and work so just want something reliable.

Fingers crossed the plug n charge on Ford Pass is the solution for our roustabout Lightning as well. Then when the Tesla Charger opens in town we are good and the guys can feel confident taking it to the city.

I got the P&C update on Mar 5, but the Fordpass app still did not update with P&C showing for Tesla. And my car still doesn't have the Public Charging app. Decided it was time for a test:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Tesla vs Electrify America vs EVgo - Plug & Charge test! Who's fastest? MMEatTesla

Plan was to plug in and see if P&C worked, if that failed I was going to try the Fordpass app. I had previously charged my Hummer at this site using the Tesla app.

Well, P&C did actually work, seemed like it took about 30 seconds or so to flash the blue charging light. Peak rate I got was 155kw.

One of the advantages of Tesla opening up their network to Ford and others is it introduces competition into the CCS charging world. When you are often the only "game in town", you can afford to under fund your maintenance activities and not maintain your equipment as we have seen with EA. Now with competition from Tesla, GM Ultium and growing numbers of other providers we should see more competition and better maintenance of the equipment. EA will need to improve their "game".
Will they?
