Test mule? What is this about?

I was charging beside a Mach-e california 1 model with Michigan plates (in Pennsylvania) and wondered what this modification is all about. An emergency disconnect maybe? With Michigan plates and a number of some sort in the rear window, I figured it was a test mule of some sort. Thoughts?

In my dreams it is Ford testing crazy fast charging ?

Not sure. The plate looked a little different but I only glanced as I was driving away.

Michigan manufacturers plates would have an M in the middle and MANUFACTURER across the bottom.

It's likely a manufacturer's car, but it is possible someone else was doing some weird testing.

So it looks like, a could tubes or cables going inside just forward of the mirror. One seems to go under the hood and the other towards the charge port. The blue thing appears to be able to rotate and connected to a latch of some sort?

But, since it is a Battery Electric vehicle, instead of a Diesel vehicle, that means it needs Battery Electric Exhaust Fluid. I can't wait to see the signs at Pilot and Flying J. BEEF sold here.

Hmm, that's a camera mount with a cable going inside. Looks like it could be a lipstick camera set up for blind spot monitoring. Perhaps Ford is experimenting with using cameras instead of side mirrors, this is something they have mentioned looking into previously.
