The veepak obd2 on amazon costs 47 dollars and will be delivered quick. The carscan data will clearly show how much power is going to preconditioning when, and what your battery temp is.

Without that data it would just be a bunch of speculation. Seems like a critical 50 bucks to add to a 50,000 buck car. At least, if you care enough to publish a video on the topic.

The test i did clearly showed preconditioning when using the app destined to a charger.

BBRacer: Yes, my final destination was 648 miles. I planned a trip in FP app from Memphis, TN to Abilene, TX and downloaded the trip to my MME. The trip planner added my charging stops along the way; as I got within 20 miles of each DCFC charging stop, the heaters would come on and my battery temps would start to rise. I had my OBDII reader installed and paired with my phone via Car Scanner app. I was monitoring max charge rate, heater kw power, pump amps, etc. Temps were in the low 40's when we started the trip. At 22 miles from first DCFC, I turned HVAC system off and verified heater amps went to zero. At 19 miles from charger, heater kw power ramped up and battery temp started rising. So, as long as your charging stops are waypoints in your trip, it will start preconditioning battery once you get within 20 miles of the charger.
That's awesome. Thanks for the info.

I just did a preconditioning test while in my car, sitting in my garage, car on.
DCFC is 14 miles away…..
HvbCHP(kw), high voltage battery coolant heater power peaked at 8.6 kw & leveled at 6.5 kw…..
With HvbT at 44.6 F, ChPLim(kw) HV Charge Power Limit shows as 100 kw …..

To Lee's point, FoMoCo kinda dropped the ball on this one - I just went back to look at the 3.6.2 release notes in FordPass and they make no mention of it, just the GOM update - "more oooo and less ahhh" or whatever it said

I wasn’t replying to him. The two people I quoted specifically questioned Ford’s social media account mentioning this feature. The link I posted was to the thread where the feature was confirmed by the Ford account. ??‍♂

Right - I'm just wondering out loud why pre-conditioning wasn't mentioned in the 3.6.2 release notes when it had the potential to earn Ford some Brownie Points. That's a pretty useful OTA update

Generally very little of substance in the release notes, like you said earlier.

Ford's release notes are wild. When they have good stuff to report like preconditioning and the fixed youtube client, it's nowhere to be found. But when they add a shitty Adobe flash-era game to the car? You'll know about it.

What does that pump/battery warming sound like? I often hear a buzzing/vibrating sound when the car is remote-started, even when not plugged in though, and wondered what that is. It is enough of a vibration that I can feel it in the steering wheel, just a bit, and goes away once I start moving.
Recorded but it appears this forum only allows video and audio extensions are not allowed? Link may work?

Thanks. I was able to listen to it. Mine sounds more like a buzzing. I will try to get a recording.
