Thanks all. For now I will assume I am up to date and all good. I was worried about DSM since I wondered if it was airbag related.

I am going to take a break from FDRS (yeah right :)! Seriously, other than making sure I don’t have a risks driving the car and waiting for a new version of sync, I don’t think I need much. My 73y/o mom visited and was impressed by the car so that is good enough for me!

Thank you everyone for your help!

PL6100 power supply issue survey.

I have heard a few people say they use this and have had issues. Documentation says you must have a 20 amp power outlet and I am wondering if using a 15 amp outlet creates an issue in the same way for some electronics you have to use alkaline AA batteries as the lower volt rechargeables have issues.

I am using a 20 amp outlet with the weird shaped plug, and no issues so far.

I’m on a 20 amp breaker but 15 amp outlet (gfci even). Laptop charger was on a different plug but same breaker…and my garage freezer might be on the same breaker.

No problems outputting 13.8v during 6 hours of updates last week.

I'm on a 20A outlet with a 30A breaker and the laptop is on a different circuit via extension cord.

But I can see where if you're using a 15A breaker for the PL6100 it might be a bit sketchy.

So checked my MME VIN this morning (as you do on a Saturday) and was more than a little surprised to find not only the RGTM I knew about...but another gateway update...and only three days after doing a gateway update on the 12th.

So at the beginning of the week my '23 was at "-FAN" then on the 12th I updated to "-FAP" and according to the manifest this new one is "-FAR".

So I guess after drinking my first cup I'll get the gear out and get busy before it gets too hot outside.

I think I'll also 'open a case' for that DSM GVMS warning just to see what happens....don't cost nuthin' :)

I‘ve been using it on a 15A outlet for years with no issues. It never pulls even close to 15A for the MME. If you do the math, 40A at 14V is only going to pull about 4.6A at 120V. Even with conversion losses, it’s under 5A.

And this is why we like having you around!

Sure you won't trade that new thing in for a Rally?

Well I did all of that....GWM took the usual 10 minutes and the RGTM took 5 minutes according to FDRS, and because I knew it was a short one I didn't drag out the PL6100. 12V battery voltage never dipped below 13.6 (I started with 99% 12V SOC).

I did submit the asbuilt assistance request, (press the DSM GVMS tile button while still connected) ...and will see what happens there when I check it in PTS. I don't expect to see much of a response though, we'll see.

Nah. I’ve gotten too used to the massaging seat!
I'm fixing to head out in about an hour on a ~2000 mile jaunt.
The Electric stationwagon will get barn-swapped for the "electrified" Powerboost for this cruise.

NOT because I am adverse to DCFCing, but rather that amazing cooled-massaging captains chair.

So I know what you mean.

(I'll admit that cargo and cabin space, along with the brilliant BC1.4 has something to do with it too ?)

The FDRS script for the RFA update is broken. It tells you to turn off the car while it is communicating with the module which breaks the session. PAAK is rock solid for me so I'm not too worried about it not being updated but this is the first module I've come across personally where the script is clearly wrong.
What was the actual error you received? Was it the same "Update was not successful" that Finkerton reported over here?

Based on what they said I assume it’s the same issue I was having where you start the update, it tells your to turn off the car, then it says communication failed and exits out of the programming.

Well in that event you just tell it "You're not the boss of Me!" and leave in key on, engine off and see if that works.

This is a lot like the RGTM that I just did this morning.....after the actual software update I got told to turn the car off, and I did, and then got told to turn it back on and using the key fob while in the car to open and then close the liftgate. Which I did. It then told me to turn the car off and pronounced us as Done!

I ended up reprogramming the module form the main screen instead of applying the update…and then the update went away from my list.

So still unsure if I actually updated it or not.
