TSB 24-2187 should take the dealer about 30-45min or so to do. It involves updating the powertrain modules.

After yesterday's GWM update showed up for my '23 model, this morning there's a RGTM. My liftgate seems to work fine, so I don't know what this one's for. And like yesterday, I haven't seen this update show up for any '21 or '22 models so far this morning.

You know I've got a great suggestion for the Fordaristas that are responsible for FDRS.

Since FDRS requires an internet connection to work I think they should make it smarter by using AI to sequence all the available software updates based on dependency requirements and list them in that order. And then when you actually connect the car up have the option to just do everything in the appropriate order, and if you just wanted to do a subset of things it would advise whether other things unrelated to the issue that's being worked on need to be addressed first....like doing a gateway or APIM or TCU before doing powertrain stuff...etc.

This AI could also work on the diagnostic side where it does analysis of the car's network and modules and just tells you what the likely problem is. The FDRS we are all using now is left over from the 80's or something. I think they have the ability to work smarter, not harder, but I don't understand what's holding back the implementation. They've got shed-loads of test data, they've got coders. Maybe they need leadership. I dunno.

Well let us know how that works out. I wonder if there’s an internal fuse or something that could be the issue. Mine’s been rock steady since purchasing. I do use it on a 20A breaker by itself and the laptop is on an extension cord to a different circuit when doing updates.
will do... I'm looking for a schematic... no luck yet.

One would think that with all the talent poaching that Ford has been doing recently from Tesla, Rivian, Lucid et al that we would start seeing improvements on the software side of things. If Ford is serious about cutting costs, allowing software to be updated easier and quicker would be a great place to start.

Debating what is a good balance for getting the license. $850/year seems a little high, how often are there actually updates?

Maybe every other month getting a 2 day would keep you pretty updated?

I buy a 2-day license about once a quarter. Only exception is if following this thread and others say significant updates for my model year are available, then I'll get a license and do it sooner.

Has anyone done the most recent round of powertrain updates, if so, any issues?

I have .....I never used 1PD anyway...but occasionally it still drops out of Unbridle and I then just reselect it and it stays.

I found it very worthwhile to buy the 1 year license the 1st year I owned the Mach E. It allowed me to learn my car's systems really well. Now I only get the 2 day license every 4 - 5 months to catch up on updates.
