So in other words, they didn’t have hands free because they didn’t have driver monitoring.

And as a bonus, they didn’t add it until they were forced to and it’s STILL easy to trick.

Tesla has a bad history of pushing the limits of safety until regulation pushes back.

Worst part? You can trick it just by putting sunglasses on and using the same stupid steering weights people have used for years-

Their monitoring system sucks if you can’t wear sunglasses
Huh? Tesla vision monitoring system allows you to wear sunglasses.

Also tesla system detects steering wheel weights and has for years. It recognizes the constant torque and disables FSD and issues a strike.

FSD didn't have hands free because they didn't implement it. They did have driver monitoring for many years before hands free was added.

People forget that tesla only got hands free last year because instead of doing hands free, they were treading thin ice with the features they were adding to the cars.

There are dozens of videos with evidence showing the same thing- sunglasses make the system turn off and weights still trick it.

It’s harder to trick it now, but you can still trick it.

And once again they only made things harder to trick because they were forced to.

Just another example of “treading on thin ice” as you put it.

Sunglasses were added in the update right after driver monitoring released. Tesla updates are quick. I think it was maybe 2 weeks.

Steering wheel weight does not work.

They make cheat devices for tesla which fake steering scroll wheel inputs. They are plugged into the obd port or inserted between the scroll wheel and the car in the steering wheel.

telsa can now detect humans in the drivers seat using in cabin radar.

Seems Tesla has created its own subculture of drivers trying to bypass safety measures.

I note the lack of these devices and discussion of them for the Mach E. I can only remember maybe one person asking about them in the last 4 years here.

99.9% people did not use this. It was a small trick left open for youtubers who probably used them to make FSD videos that were cleaner without steering wheel nags.

I opened the tesla app and looked at all the features that were there and in the car.

They have remote start and lock/unlock so you can remotely allow the car to be unlocked and driven by anyone or by someone who lost their key.

They have sentry mode 360 recording at all times while driving and parked. You have a clip viewer in the mobile app that streams recorded events from the car like it is a server. Works really well.

You can talk to people outside your car using the megaphone function and even flash lights and honk the horn. All while watching and listening to them on live video.

You can remotely monitor passengers/pets inside the car.

You can see the speed your car is driving and where it is located at all times.

Custom music and lock sounds from the external speaker is a really obvious one. Surprised more cars don't allow you to change the lock sound considering the external speaker is required.

Tesla car turns display turns on instantly when you get in and there is no lag like other cars when it first starts up. It is ipad like smoothness for the entire time you use it.

In the tesla app you have full control over the car remotely and can do almost anything you would ever want. Instead of climate on/off you can change any setting like turning on a specific seat heater.

You can also summon the car to you from across a parking lot.

Cant we remote start and lock/unlock? And in the past I have text someone my start code so they could get in and go. I would say we have those features just in a different form.

if someone gets in your car they can drive it? with no key and using the start code? That's not quite the same because the tesla variant involves sharing no code and is a one time use permission to drive the car.

I can change my code after. Yes I have a door code to enter (like most fords since the 80s) and we have a start code to type to start our car. Something Tesla does not have.

  • Now if you are talking about in the car and not the mobile app

  • powered passenger seats, heated rear seats, glass roof, good sound system, over 330 miles of range are standard on all models with the cheapest tesla getting 363 miles of range.

  • model Y rear seats recline

  • tesla "12v" battery is actually a 16v lithium ion that lasts for 10+ years. Surprisingly almost no evs copied this one

  • real games, native netflix inegration, streaming apps, web browser to play pretty much anything you want

  • all the native music apps you want. Spotify, tidal, tune-in, live one, apple music, pandora, audible, siriusxm, amazon music, etc.

  • tesla voice assistant will play any song you ask for

  • grok integration

  • light show

  • random music apps

  • custom lock sound and horn sound. Tesla horn is a speaker so it can always play the latest trending horn sound if tastes change

  • full self driving software which can go months without touching steering wheel or pedals under normal use

  • summon mode

  • auto park where you can click on any parking space and the car drives there

  • 25% better efficiency with model Y juniper which means smaller battery and reduced weight

  • larger frunk

  • Everything on tesla is powered. Steering wheel, vents, seats, etc. so when you get in the car auto remembers your positions as well as UI preferences and logins. Unlimited driver profiles

  • Rear screen that supports bluetooth headphones and music/movies/games.

  • UWB support with auto open trunk, apple watch support, etc.

  • "unlimited" phones as keys and driver profiles

  • Every rental tesla loads your settings exactly like it's your own car

  • auto emergency braking systems which can detect cross moving traffic, animals, pedestrians, dodge accidents, etc.

  • Dash camera and sentry mode

  • Matrix Headlights

  • Auto dimming side mirrors

yes but then it is a code you need to remember every time you change it. Tesla has a key card to open the door and/or remote unlock/start which is easier.

Tesla also has no limit on phone as a key. You can have as many phones as you want and can remove any devices at any time. You can also set speed limits for every profile

You dont own a Mach-e, so please refrain from telling us what is easier. Own one, drive one, then give your opinion.

A key card? Is that a joke? I leave my house with only a phone 99% of the time, no wallet, no keys, no back up key card. I can do that because I am confident I can enter my car and drive it without anything else.

the point is NOT for you. You have a phone key which is why you don't need a wallet. The key card is for valet or someone else to borrow your car

The key card is linked to a driver profile and you also have valet mode which reduces acceleration and sets a speed cap

Key card can be left inside your car for all it matters

He's got a point about all that valet stuff. Last thing I need to worry about on the red carpet on the way into the Oscars is having some lot attendant run up to me asking me to repeat that entry code and password! /s

If I am leaving a key card in the car why not just leave the keys in?

And @tobiasjef we also have a valet mode (which can use a different start code) you can hand them a slip of paper with the code, or write on the back of their paper ticket
