I'd argue that the quality of these speakers just aren't acceptable for a $60k car, but all manufacturers across the board seem to use this as one area to cut costs since most of the time the sound is good enough for most customers, especially when they badge the systems and the components are unseen. The Burmeister MB setup and B&W Volvo might be exceptions, but I'm almost sure the speakers included there aren't up to the actual components in what you would purchase from B&W or Bur. I plan on replacing some of these speakers at some point as all the other cars I've done sound much better with better quality components- they don't have to be expensive ones (I don't think it's just me convincing myself.) As others have said, a quality sub may take care of most of the shortcomings (and easier than replacing the other speakers.)

Being a curious soul, I'll follow along with this. However, the stock system can drown out ambient road and wind noise, so it's good enough for me.
Same. I wouldn't mind a bit more bass, but any upgrades would have to be as close to a "unplug the old speaker and plug the new one in" as possible or I just ain't doin' it. ?

There is nothing special about the factory speaker material or composition. They are made of very cheap material as a cost savings. All the magic happens in the DSP,EQ, and Crossover section of the amp.

I sat in a Lexus with the Mark Levison sound package. Drastic difference in sound quality. I haven’t had the pleasure of hearing the Volvo dynaudio system or burmiester Benz package to compare.

Seems the Mach E was given a sound system budget of a typical $20-30k ICE rather than a $50k+ car. Additionally, being a BEV, they likely also gave it a weight limit further limiting component quality.

@ElectrikPony I will watch this thread to understand what issues you ran into and for any tips. I have the DAC amplifier integration and amplifier with digital signal processing on my list of next things to replace. Just waiting on Crutchfield to put my six channel amp on sale. I cannot wait to install it and to be able to tune the system to optimize the new speakers. Good luck and keep us posted.

will you be using the PAC or NavTV unit to integrate into the existing system?

Ugh, sorry to hear about that, but I can relate. dealer damaged mine and tried to cover it up without telling me. They didn't notice that they had also damaged the front in addition to the rear that they "fixed." They repaired both with more success the second time around, but as they say, it's never the same, even with just paint.

Both body shops the 2 different dealers have used that have repaired the car more closely resemble junk yards than someone I'd want to paint my car I gotta say, not that it's a true indication of their work, but not confidence building that's for sure.

Update: reading through the documentation on the AP4-FD31, I need to point out an important factor that could change your system design.

AP4-FD31 will ONLY output 2-Chanel stereo via TOS/SPdif digital connector.

IF you desire 6 channel output the connections will need to be made via the Analog RCA connectors.

So if you were planing to use a digital input on your amp/Dac consider the limitation.

Oh, thanks for that. THAT changes my entire setup.

Is there a way to take low level preamp signal just for the sub woofer and leave rest of the setup as is (B&O)? I currently have a setup where I took the high level input to lc2i and to my amp but I am not liking it.

As far as I know, all of the A2B systems output 2 channel TOS. My F150 is finally mostly back together after each door received 3 layers of butyl liner -- I've also added ambient lighting to all 4 door panels as well -- Ford killed that off by the time the 14th gen was released. I've retained the 4.1 RCA jacks of the AP4. The B&O in the MME and F150 are very similar.
