Now that we have passed the BC trial expiration, it will be interesting to see what happens with “Connected Navigation”. That starts expiring for many of us “soon”. With so many other options, it will be curious to see Ford’s pricing structure for this.

Other manufacturers are in the $99-$149 range for disc and SD card updates to their built-in nav systems. Hopefully Ford would be cheaper since there's no physical media involved. ?‍♂
I don't intend to renew either way. AA and Google Maps FTW. ?

Mine expires in April. Can't wait.. I assume when it expires the ability to pre-condition on the way to a DCFC charge will stop working. Because, why not nickle, dime and $100 us to death to be able to continue using the car in a manner we're accustomed to.

From what Mach-Lee had mentioned it's $80 a year. Not sure what that gets besides random double dings and GOM randomization.

I've been curious what that will cost. So I'm assuming nav updates would come OTA? as opposed to disc or other method?

I saw this in the manual, pertaining to Connected Services. Does that mean you can use CS with a hotspot from your phone?

If you do not sign up or renew your
subscription, you can still use navigation
through a connected device.

I bet it means you can run a 3rd party maps app through CarPlay / Android Auto. (Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, etc)

I assume you're right, but that doesn't help to condition the battery for charging. I didn't see anything in the manual about using Ford navigation for conditioning. I don't do much DCFC charging so I don't have any cold weather experience. Maybe Ford's opinion is they couldn't care less about conditioning the battery for DCFC charging. So their navigation is not necessary.

Maps have been updated OTA in the past.

You can disable connected navigation in settings, so I did and went into navigation. In the "where to" menu the charger option was greyed-out and wouldn't let me select it. I'm guessing almost certainly means no preconditioning without the subscription. Unless Ford changes it and/or adds an option to manually precondition, like maybe in the new charge assist app.

It’s $80 and you can use FordPass points.

I really like Apple Maps, or whatever as it adds charging recommendations

I don't use data on my phone, so I will have to get the Ford connected nav.
