Welp, this happened. Fortunately I wasn’t going fast. Happened out of nowhere. Bang! And zero tire pressure. Left rear.

looks like you hit a curb one point and damaged it by the sidewall abrasion ... though if that abrasion is the whole circumference, it's more likely from sidewall scrub driving flat.

Still, I'd expect to 'feel it' when the damage occurred to the casing, even if not at the time the blowout happened. I doubt it simply popped on its own, steel belts and all.

That happened to me on Highway 80 on the border of Nevada and Utah states. I had to find a tire shop that could sell me another tire to make it back home. Ended up paying some good money for a bald tire, probably illegal, but could make it back home in San Jose, CA.

After this incident, I always carry a full-size spare tire in the rear.

Did not hit a curb now or ever. Drove about 500’ to get off the road.

I see a sidewall bulge further over. The tire sidewall was likely damaged from previously hitting curb or a pothole, which resulted in a blowout.

You might not ever had hit a curb or pothole but the person you bought those tires/wheels from might have.

Where did you buy the full spare and how much does it cost? Also any specific jack and tools for mach E

Same here. I got mine from modernspare.com and take it along on road trips. There are plenty of drives out here in the West where you're a long way from any service (or cell svc for that matter) and you need to be self-reliant.

Just curious, how many miles on that tire?

I had a similar blowout on my ranger in the rain doing about 60, sent me spinning into sand filled construction barrels. Good thing you were not going fast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a GT performance rim and you have a Premium MME. Did you change rims and tires at some point?

Which is why I mentioned to him in my earlier post that while he might not have hit a curb or pothole the person he bought those from might have.

It’s not a “blow-out” which are extremely rare, it’s impact damage, whilst inflated, look how clean the cut is and no shredded, frayed cords around the wound. Possibly something sharp unseen on the road that sliced the tyre?

Glad you’re OK.

Sounds like Stang performed and handled the failure very well.

Can this modernspare fit in the frunk? I've got nothing useful up there anyway.

A full sized tire is too big to fit in the frunk. ?‍♂?
