I know there are a lot of posts regarding tires, I am after the latest opinions and recs. 21 GTPE so I went through the cold temp fiasco with the OEM Pirelli's (zero meaning zero snow traction), cracking, etc. Got 17k miles, put on the continental extreme contact DW06 plus and have 50k on them and are shot. Amazing traction, better ride, maybe quieter, very pleased. Only drawback maybe about a 10% distance penalty. See some talk about a 20% penalty for certain tires, don't want that. I see recs for Michelin pilot sport A/S 4, Pirelli zero A/S plus 3, and maybe a Hankook ion something or other. So wondering if there is any tire that would do as well as these continentals without the distance loss? With the great traction of these I see no need for 2 sets of tires. Handling is not a priority, and I realize you probably have to give up some distance to get the traction and ride. Thanks for any ideas.

You keep bringing up traction (even in the snow) which seems to be your number one priority. If that is the case, I would stick with the ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus's. The Michelin's will give you better dry performance but the worst of the bunch in the snow. The Pirelli's will give you the most comfort and will tie the Hankooks on range (giving you a bit more than the Conti's).

Thanks, sounds like the Michelin is out for me, need to check on the others.

If you looking for good traction in the snow with all seasons, yes. The previous Pilot Sport All Season 3 was called a three season tire since it was really bad in the snow. They did improve on the 4 but still not as good as the Conti's for sure.

Yes, I do run a farm. The PT is a run-around for the help, and my wife is having a hard time giving up the DTS. We could get along without the 150, but it comes in handy every now and then and it's a nice rig, actually use it on a snow plow.

Tim, if you are looking for a really good all around tire especially in the snow, maybe an All-Weather tire would be better for you than an All-Season. The Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive. Both are the best tires in the snow that you can use all year around. The Pirelli's have been beating the Michelin's in the last few tests that reviewers have conducted. Michelin is replacing the CrossClimate 2's with 3's and Sport's. We just don't have conformation when they will arrive here in the US.

Thank you, do you know how they stack up on mileage penalty?

Guess the way I phrased that it could refer to tread wear or rolling resistance.

I have only seen a couple of reviews and also looked at the European ratings but the CC2's generally come in at an average to below average rating while the Pirellis are average to above average but all this depends on the size tire you purchase. The CC2's are available in the OEM 245/45R20 while you would have to go up one size to a 255/45R20 to get the Scorpion WeatherActives.

I haven't seen the rolling resistance rating for the Pirelli but the CC2 would have somewhere between 2-4% range hit over stock. Either should be way better than the DWS06 when it comes to range and also way better in the snow but not as good in the wet as the Conti

The DWS06 is a real good all season its focused on wet weather performance. The game changed a few years ago and all weather tires are much better in the snow. If you live in MN like I do all weather is a solid choice. Depending on when you need tires Conti does have a all weather coming this fall but I don't know the exact timeframe.

My next set will likely be the Cross Climate 3 Sport.

Ive had the Michelin CC2's on for a few weeks and the range/miles per KW change has almost been negligible. Beefy tire and much better than the stock tires.
