I was impressed with the offerings for trailer hitches in recent posts. I contacted my dealer to inquire about the cost to buy one. I got a real surprise I would like to share. My Service Advisor who is a real prince of a guy, advised that the installation of any hitches my well void my warranty. See page 262 of the Owner's Manual.

Tell your service advisor to look up the Magnuson Moss Act. The installation of a hitch can't just void your warranty. They would have to prove that the particular fault you're trying to get fixed under warranty was caused by the hitch or towing. Take what dealers say with a grain of salt, even if they happen to be a prince.

Additionally, the vast majority of people installing hitches aren't towing anything. They are using them for bike racks or other hitch-mounted cargo carriers.

Will definitely be watching this thread closely. The lack of an OEM option for a hitch, or at least an “activity mount” for a bike rack like what Subaru is putting on the Solterra, is a major bummer. It would be extremely disappointing if an aftermarket hitch could void warranty.

Last week the Ford dealer had no trouble taking my 2021 Premium with a trailer hitch as a trade for a 2022 GT. Dumb move if there was no warranty.

And from I have heard the European build has a trailer hitch and a 1000kg (or more) towing capacity.

The trailer hitch is an official Ford option in UK/EU.

You can order from the UK Ford accessories site too. Was rated to 750kg now been upped to 1000kg

especially since the SAME VEHICLE is sold in Europe with towing capacity listed.

rear hitch mounts also could be quite useful for tow trucks pulling cars out of a snowdrift or ditch since there are NO other rear 'tow-hook' holes or D-rings.

It's absolutely a huge marketing miss for a vehicle classified as an SUV to have no provision for towing/cargo hitch. We're talking 'lifestyle' and a major chunk of activities that can be expected with a SUV.

I don't understand why Ford would offer towing in the UK and not here in the US, same thing with the front tow hook/loop. If they are going to build the car at the same factory, why not make them all the same.

Having the option to install one, either OEM or aftermarket, was a huge factor when we were first considering the MME and I asked about it during my first sales consultation (yeah… sales). When I asked if there would be any issue if I installed an aftermarket hitch and he said “of course not!” I just moved on to the test drive and fell in love with it. I was so excited about the car that I didn’t dig enough there.

I’ll hold out hope for a little longer that Ford will announce a first party option, and if not then I’ll pursue an aftermarket one. As others have mentioned - it’s absolutely bizarre that they would leave this out for the US version.

Especially since there are no integrated roof rails

They won't. The MME is not rated for towing in North America, so there is zero chance that Ford will release an OEM hitch for it here.
Until they do. Tesla Model Y ($1000 option), Kia EV6, and I assume Hyundai Ionic 5, VW ID.4, and others all offer towing so I would expect it will here some day but not as fast as we would like.

i need a 2” receiver for my bike rack so the Euro hitch isn’t useful. I did have to notch the rear bumper to fit a Draw-Tite hitch and that is a painted body panel so a Euro-style hitch like done by Stealth Hitches would be ideal but they need an MME in Atlanta to finish the fitment (free hitch if they use your car?).

I am getting a ECOHITCH 2 STAINLESS STEEL installed on Wednesday which supposedly does not require the bumper to be modified...
