Wow SE MI is cheap. 2 burgers and 3 nice beers would be $75 here in CA!

We still use EA Pass+ for the most trips that need a charge which is less than Tesla as well. Subscribing to multiple platform plans is not worth the price so if we find ourselves at a Tesla Supercharger the extra few bucks dealing with another app is still in fact, not worth my time.
Tesla has been cheaper than EA. Many EA locations are 56 cents, 42 after discount. Most Teslas are 31 - 37 cents after discount.

EA Pass + is not bad at .42 cents and out here in the west it's that price all day long vs. Tesla and its peak/off-peak pricing. Plus we can't use a Supercharger with our Taycan as there are no Superchargers with magic dock near us...

So why to corporations increasingly skirt the law, and scr*w cusomers?

ps - in this case it actually is unintentional, but Ford is being badly blasé about owning the issue.

I get what you’re saying but not being able to charge at the Superchargers is a VW and Taycan problem. Not relevant to what Rick is saying bc Mach Es can charge at Superchargers, which are cheaper than EA with the Tesla membership.

There's generally no need to disable Plug & Charge - and by doing so you will also prevent use of the Public Charging app on the touchscreen, which is also useful.

Activate the charger before you plug in, either Tesla or EA, and wait until the charger screen (EA) or app (Tesla) reflects the activation. I've done this with 100% success all with P&C enabled.
Me too on a recent 1300+ mile trip all on Tesla chargers...Activate in Tesla app then plug in.

While you’re on the phone with them, ask them when they are going to fix their payment portal. My payment is due today. ?
Mine was on 13th and I am worried they might report a late payment to credit bureaus. ??‍♂??‍♂??‍♂

In FordPass … you went to the Energy page, -> Access & Permissions -> Plug & Charge and switched it off … but it did Plug & Charge anyway?? Or did it somehow get re-enabled after you disabled it?

I have two Mach-E’s and the ability to do this is on a per-car basis (I have turned it off for one car but left it on for the other and that worked.)

I suppose another option is to remove your payment method from BlueOval Charging Network. Not ideal … but if you want to make SURE it can’t override, then their only option when you take away the payment method is to give you a free charge.

Always activate the charger via companies app before plugging in. That will bypass Fordpass and plug and charge.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Turning off Plug & Charge Plug & Charge is off

As discussed in this thread, removing the credit card means you can't use FordPass or Public Charging for ChargePoint or any other network in the Blue Oval Charge Network...

Always activate the charger via companies app before plugging in. That will bypass Fordpass and plug and charge.
And, as stated in the thread a few times, if the charging session fails with say Tesla, Plug and Charge takes over...

I don't disagree with what Rick is saying however our conversation started over the price of convenience. Convenience often costs more and I value my personal time more than anything. Rick's numbers also don't match what we pay in CA. Everything in CA costs more... From burgers and beer to gas to laundry detergent.

Last time I checked peak pricing for Tesla supercharges in CA was .61kWh for non-members or .45kWH for members who pay $13 per month. EA with and it's $7 Pass + plan which we use more often anyway, is cheaper during peak times.

I’m trying to understand how, at a protocol level, Ford allowed the charge to go through anyway. It’s as if Ford treated the disabled status as a “request” that doesn’t have to be enforced.

If you’ve used the station before WITH Plug & Charge … I also wonder if Tesla can cache your billing information (e.g. read the VIN and then submit the charge to Ford — regardless of the Plug & Charge setting).

On a recent trip with our Mach-E, I activated membership with Tesla to get the discount. I then made sure Plug & Charge was turned off.

Twice, the Tesla session failed, but Plug & Charge kicked in. You only know this when the Tesla app is not showing the charge in process. And yes, I got charged full price.

Today I used Ford's "Text an EV Expert". Nope. Call the BEV team.
Called the BEV team. They opened a case, working on a refund. They said Connected Services can turn it off.
Connected Services said "nope, we don't do that, let me transfer you to...". Marketing picked up the phone...
She transferred me to FordPass. They gave me an incorrect interpretation of the issue, then I was disconnected.
I called them back.
She took the information to "escalate it". 6 people, none that could simply turn it off.
I’ve never had a problem- even on a 4,000+ mile trip. I exclusively use the Tesla and EA apps to map/find and execute my charge and have kept plug&charge turned off since a week after I bought the car. BUT just this week, the Ford app randomly turned it on. Hmmmm.
