Got a call back on my ticket. The engineers are aware that all Android users have this issue, and are working on it. They CANNOT adjust any Plug & Charge settings on their side.

On a recent trip with our Mach-E, I activated membership with Tesla to get the discount. I then made sure Plug & Charge was turned off.

Twice, the Tesla session failed, but Plug & Charge kicked in. You only know this when the Tesla app is not showing the charge in process. And yes, I got charged full price.

Today I used Ford's "Text an EV Expert". Nope. Call the BEV team.
Called the BEV team. They opened a case, working on a refund. They said Connected Services can turn it off.
Connected Services said "nope, we don't do that, let me transfer you to...". Marketing picked up the phone...
She transferred me to FordPass. They gave me an incorrect interpretation of the issue, then I was disconnected.
I called them back.
She took the information to "escalate it". 6 people, none that could simply turn it off.
I turned off plug and charge on the app very early when I got all my individual memberships. Haven't used it since. I only pay membership prices.

EA Pass + is not bad at .42 cents and out here in the west it's that price all day long vs. Tesla and its peak/off-peak pricing. Plus we can't use a Supercharger with our Taycan as there are no Superchargers with magic dock near us...
"not bad" is irrelevant to the point though. It's about picking whichever station is cheaper (at the time you're there to use it). Just like picking the gas station that's $3.00/gal over the one down the street that's 3.50/gal.

Yep, been that way for months now. The Android app is missing the P&C toggle, and website removed that feature, what, 2 years ago? I think mine is OFF, but not 100% sure, and no way to change it.

Not that the P&C setting has EVER worked very well. We were lucky if it actually turned the feature on/off more than half of the time. Also lucky if the setting as displayed was even accurate. Sometimes it would show as ON when it was actually OFF, and vice versa.

Quite the mess.

Fixed now.

Switch works in new updated Android app 5.10.1.
Oh cool! I checked it last week and still no update, but checked just now and it's available. Just updated.

As it turns out, my P&C is ON. Or so it says, anyway. So I turned it OFF since we're doing a trip to Vegas & Reno again in 2 weeks. We use mostly EA but there are 2 SCs we have to use when cutting across thru Death Valley. I could try to turn P&C back on for those 2, but it's hardly worth it just for that. Probably wouldn't work anyway as I'm one of the ones who's Tesla certificate never got loaded correctly. AFAIK it's still missing, but I don't have an easy way to tell since they changed the FP app.

I loved P&C when I had the FP EA discount for 2 years (beta test), but that's history now. Back to doing it manually to get the discount. Maybe by 2028 it'll be convenient again. :wait:

I’m trying to understand how, at a protocol level, Ford allowed the charge to go through anyway. It’s as if Ford treated the disabled status as a “request” that doesn’t have to be enforced.

If you’ve used the station before WITH Plug & Charge … I also wonder if Tesla can cache your billing information (e.g. read the VIN and then submit the charge to Ford — regardless of the Plug & Charge setting).
Unless I missed something, I don't think that's what he's saying.

I think he meant the Tesla app didn't activate the session before plugging in as intended, so Ford's P&C grabbed the session and started it upon plug-in. And that P&C activated because it was actually turned ON even though FP incorrectly showed it as being OFF. And that the only other way to ensure that P&C wouldn't work is to remove the credit card from the account.

Regarding the last sentence... I seriously doubt any charging station would cache the credit card info and automatically use it in the future. That would be highly inappropriate and probably illegal. Thus why it has to be registered in your account explicitly, with your permission.

I had to remove my vehicle and add it back to Ford Pass yesterday. The plug and charge toggle in the Ford Pass app is in the off position and I can't toggle in to the "on" position. Has any else experience this issue and what did you do to resolve it?

Yes, many people have had that issue, it was an issue with a version of FordPass at the time, which they then fixed with an update. Try stopping the app, deleting cache, and try it again. If that doesn't work, delete cache, delete app, reboot phone, reload app.

There's generally no need to disable Plug & Charge - and by doing so you will also prevent use of the Public Charging app on the touchscreen, which is also useful.

Activate the charger before you plug in, either Tesla or EA, and wait until the charger screen (EA) or app (Tesla) reflects the activation. I've done this with 100% success all with P&C enabled.
Here is my experince on Electify America (EA) - Both the screen on the EA charger and the EA app tell you to plug in the charger first. The EA phone help menu says there are two ways to start a EA session - one which you plug in first the other which you start by swiping the green slider bar after selecting your station after which you can plug in.

When I plugged in first like I was guided to the app and charger with P&C enabled I ended up with guest charge not the EA membership price I should have been charged.

When I called the EA support number they only seemed to know about the plug in first option - I followed their directions several times with pluggin in first only to get the same results - they rebooted the charging station and that did not help - finally they remotely initiated the charge at the charging station and then had me plug in and that worked.

I tried a number of times to use the second method by swiping the green slider bar mentioned in the vioce help menu - but could not see it. I did see a green start charging button.

I found a 2023 youtube video on how to start a EA charge and on that video there was a green slider on the app where the green button was on the current app.

At another EA charging station I tried ignoring the directions on the EA charger and app and selected the charger and clicked the start charging button _before_ pugging in - then after it was attempting to set up payment plugged in and I got the membership rate.

It seems that EA app was updated at some point from 2023 replacing a green slider to a button and the phone help menu had not been updated at EA and the support at EA was unaware of the way to start a charging session without having them remotly start the charging session.

So to charge at EA you need to start the charge before plugging in and ignore the directions on the charger and EA app about plugging in first and understand that the phone help menu is out of date when it refers to the slider to start the charging.

In april of 25, we took a 5,000 mi trip from tacoma wa through the sw and back. Used tesla 95 % of the trip
I discovered early on you need to turn off pc. Fire up tesla app and select location, charger (a,b,c,d) next select charge and finally plug in. This step worked and I was charged the member price. (do not plug in first). I can't remember if I stopped charging in the tesla app or by pushing the button in the blue circle at the charger port
Hope this is helpful
