- 2022 Mach-E RWD ER
The higher insurance costs will mainly be due to the higher replacement value of the car, and the fact that if the battery pack gets damaged in an accident the car will instantly get written off.
I used to work at AVIVA, and actuaries who work out the rates for insurance are very good at working out repair values and driver liabilities so they wonāt be assessing this blind, it will be based on similar vehicle experience.
The insurance group ratings (published earlier in this thread) are fixed to a vehicle, and only tend to change if the vehicle gets refreshed by the manufacturer as part of an overhaul.
Iāve also noticed that the fixed excess on the Mach-E is set to Ā£350 plus any additional voluntary amounts you put down that you are prepared to pay.
Iām counting myself very lucky that my quote is looking quite good compared to some of you. Iām currently paying Ā£189 a year for my Prius PHEV - so itās quite a jump because of the higher grouping.
