Hi all,

So, car has just returned from the dealer for the latest recall (the overheating one). All my saved locations have disappeared meaning I can’t change the charge level from 100% as it states it has to be charged once for a location to be saved. I don’t remember this being a thing originally…..
Ford app maps also now thinks I am in Berlin.

Anyone had any similar issues after a recall?

Cheers guys.
I think just about everyone on here has had some sort of sync reset happen when their car has had a dealer update but most people seem to have a different reset to others. I lost my profile picture ages ago which I can't get back on the screen. I have also had the charging location issue that you have. It has always been the case that to set a schedule you have to set a location which you can only do by plugging in and charging first. Sometimes it will only need a quick blast, sometimes a bit longer. My dark/light screen setting for the main screen also went haywire once. That was cured by an OTA power up update. It's a bit like the Ford Pass app updates. Every time I get one something always goes missing. Unfortunately it is something I think we just have to put up with. Like I've said before, the MME is just a big computer on wheels.

So I’ve charged it to 85% (had to keep checking). Unplugged, still not registered as a previous charge location. Therefore will try and charge to 100% every time I plug in at home. Back to the dealer tomorrow then.

Crap. Driving down to Cornwall today and I get the dreaded “Service car soon” message. I had the update for the contactor issue done last week so I’m assuming this is related to that, where the fault is occurring but because of the update it’s still allowing me to drive. It’s definitely persisting with the error after several power off/on events.

The car’s still drivable (but without the top end zip that it should have) and is currently sat charging on a 7kW charger at the property where we’re staying. I’ll have to call the dealer on Monday and get it booked in (again - I’ve now had this car back at the dealer for more than 5 weeks total since I got it in September!)

Is this something that FDRS will show up more details on?

If you send a PM with your VIN to @DevSecOps, I’m sure Todd may be able to assist in telling you if it is indeed the HVBJB.

As I discovered (thanks to @Wonkey Donkey) and had it confirmed by the service manager at my dealer, 22-2150 is the US TSB. The european version (ie for us as well) is 22-2166. I'm waiting for a phone call when they are ready to do mine- maybe this week.
Any idea how the garage claims for this work ? I am stuck in between Powerup 1.6 & 1.7 and not confident the garage will update the APIM module as it is not included in any of the recalls. (it's in this week for new windscreen, discs and 22S41)

If memory serves me correctly Ford issued a TSB to dealers to carry out an update that should clear the 1.6/1.7 issue as they couldn't fix it OTA. Speak to your dealer, he should be able to find out.

I'm in the same boat, our car was in the dealers last week for the software recalls but as the APIM was not on the included modules as part of this they were not updated. The dealership I'm dealing with were strict on thier "billing" and would only do the work they could claim under the recall, unfortunately ours is not a "friendly" dealer like @portlandg has. Maybe your dealer will install these for you, fight your corner.

So for us the APIM is still stuck and without unblocking as part of the TSB we will not receive any OTA updates. I was advised that the dashes in SYNC is a good indicator of this (at least for us).

We are with a lease company so we're trying for them to authorise this extra work. I've also raised a case with Ford to their BEV team for any warranty coverage.

Hi Tony,

I'm in the same boat as you. My dealer, to be fair, was really good and had a good go at unlocking the APIM simply because the car is not doing what it is supposed to be doing and they agreed that unlocking it was therefore covered by the warranty. Unfortunately, having had the car for a week or so, they were unable to get it unlocked. I believe they were simply following the update procedure which is different from the TSB unlocking procedure, so it was never going to work. They still have not unlocked it and I got fed up of waiting for them to come back to me, so I raised a case with the BEV Sales team. They are chasing it for me and they absolutely agree that it should be performed by the dealer without question.

Thanks @RegP good to know and ammunition for my conversations with the BEV team to authorise the dealership, as if there is any question!

Yeah the TSBs have specific steps and if the Technician is inexperienced then they'll likely go round in circles.

Hopefully you get your APIM unlocked soon.

Rags to riches attempted charge. Once the dealer had finished the software updates on our car last week they offered a quick valet (it was a bit mucky) to finish off, I agreed thinking nothing of it. However, the young lad was a bit too keen with the drying rag and it got caught and ripped off one of underscores to the passenger door lettering (only present on ER AWD I believe), with the dealership giving apologetic feedback to me. They told me one was on order and they'll fit it when the car goes back in for the pano roof and windscreen (another story) as it was all their fault (too right!) and they'll take care of it.
Anyway, the wife got an email from her company fleet people today asking to deduct £110 from her salary for this maintenance/repair to cover it. So the response from my wife was "Err NO" in short and for them to go back to Zenith/Dealer to sort it out as we are certainly not paying for it, the cheek.

The annoying thing is I know of this issue from this forum and other peoples experiences, and this is something I always mention when the car gets valeted, but I didn't mention it to the Ford dealer perhaps thinking they would know this already! My fault I suppose but I'm not paying ?

Anyone with an ER AWD watch out that the sticky back lettering could be ripped off if caught by a rag.

It's not just AWD ER. The lettering on my RWD ER is very loose too. But that was my fault while washing it. I am thinking of getting the dental floss to it before I break it completely. At least if I can get it off in one piece I can stick it back on when I come to sell.

INSTAVOLT PRICE INCREASE:

I just received an email from InstaVolt of their intent to increase the charge rate from Monday 15th:

InstaVolt announces updated tariff of 66p per kWh
We are writing to inform you of an update to our tariff. From 15 August 2022, charging on the InstaVolt network will cost 66p per kWh for all customers across all payment types.

As has been well documented, the global cost of energy is at a record high. As a responsible business committed to the continued investment in the UK’s public charging infrastructure, we’ve taken the difficult decision to pass on some of these costs to consumers.

Currently a home energy tariff attracts 5% VAT, where public charging continues to attract a 20% rate, discriminating against those without access to home charging. Should there be any movement in the agenda of reducing VAT on home energy bills, we would urge the government to include public charging within this. We reiterate our commitment that if the public charging rate is reduced, the benefit will be passed back to consumers immediately. For example, if the public charging VAT rate was reduced to 5%, our price would be 58p per kWh.

We understand this remains a difficult time for consumers and businesses nationwide. We want to thank our customers for their ongoing support and custom.

Yeah. i am taking the car to another EH dealer to check the software but i have stopped worrying. what will happen will happen.
Update on this. Took my MME to Evans Halshaw Bedford, same people who has done the roof recall.

They said my local EH dealership had not done the recall work even though it was shown updated in the system.

They carried out rhe software update. They don't seem to give jobsheet copies to customers so I have only their word for it and a photocopy of the technician's handwritten note that PCM module wasn't done by my dealership.

I have no reason to disbelieve Bedford and will inform Ford UK about my local dealership.

Anyone been to Bedford? They said a few MachEs had come to them for this recall.

Good luck! They took mine in and then ordered the windscreen making me wait weeks. Awful
I have been informed the car will be ready tomorrow morning. They got the car on Monday and have replaced the rear disks & pads, windscreen and carried out software update for the HV contactor 22S41.

They advised that they are not able to do the TSB for the stuck Power Up as Ford "have not released the TSB." This is Evans Halshaw, Altrincham. It seems that either there is a lack of knowledge or they are not able to claim the costs for the work.
