Ford were happy to deal with me even though mine is a lease vehicle. I did however show proof that I was the registered driver. In fact Ford have been extremely helpful thus far.
I agree. I have had a few minor issues, which have been resolved and have received a Ford Goodwill Credit Card, Amazon Vouchers and a voucher to spend at the dealership. My car is owned by myself and can only report as I find. Extremely good service although I did ā€spit my dummy outā€ when the recall was published 3 days after registering my car, having to drive it sedately as there was no fix at that time.

Dealership have been fair but passed the buck to Ford assist, lease company have been OK and raised a case with Ford, however 24 hours now and still no loan car. So far lease company have offered £18 per day for transport costs and won't provide a vehicle as it's a warranty fault.
It's a bit of a farce if I'm honest.

a friend bought a Tesla MY LR and i was casually comparing prices between 22 model for MY and MachE and wow, the equivalent MachE AWD ER is about 10k more!!

i posted about this in another channel and looks like in US, the two cars are similarly priced.

so, are we paying more because GBP has fallen big time against USD?

Sadly, having years of experience with Leasing Companies, as the owner of a franchise, you have to bear in mind that leasing companies are mainly concerned with bottom line profit and not always to the end users benefit. If they can offload the problem to the manufacturer or dealer, they will. What you have to remember is, the Leasing Company, negotiate the best possible purchase deal from the manufacturer and also factor in the actual realisable residual value, and then pass that cost onto the Lessor. Any extraordinary costs reduce the profitability of the lease deal and is therefore resisted, hence where possible they direct the Lessor in the direction of the Manufacturer/Dealer. Not seemingly fair, but a fact of life I am afraid.

it also has the added bonus of not being a Tesla. Probably worth the extra alone that

Gridserve Experience :(

Sutton Scotney (South) experience today using the CCS charger:

First try - Plugged in, tapped contactless card and charge started and lasted 3 seconds before internal error displayed on charger screen. Phoned helpline and they rebooted the charger after I unplugged.

Second try - As above and charge lasted 4 seconds after they rebooted the charger leaving the plug attached to the car.

Third try - As First try with plug attached and they initiated the charge remotely and the charge lasted 6 seconds. (Wow, we'll get there eventually)

Confirmed by them that car not at fault as internal error displayed on charger screen.

By this time I'd run out of patience as I'd only stopped for a comfort break and thought a quick blast of electrons would do no harm plus it's only my second time at public charging and I was interested to know how Gridserve performed compared to Ionity. At the moment it's Ionity 1 Gridserve 0.

Luckily I arrived at my destination with 19% where I'm able to charge overnight. So a 50% failure rate. Just gives the EV naysayers more ammunition. I thought the Electric Highway chargers would be more reliable now Gridserve had taken them over. At least the helpline is 24 hours...

I’ve used Grid Serve a few times now on trips up north so have used various service stations between Birmingham and Manchester and Liverpool and Leeds. Normally at least 50% of the available chargers are out of order leaving quite a queue of EV’s. When I have used them they have always worked well but they are clearly unreliable as with only usually 2-4 chargers at each location you are immediately down to 1-2 with 50% of then not in use. Luckily I’m not doing long distances often so 90% of the time my home charger is all I need and if I was doing lots of motorway miles I probably wouldn’t have bought an EV. I agree with your comments though that the infrastructure has to improve significantly if they want long distance travellers to purchase EV’s. There are normally ranks of free Tesla chargers and teslas plugged into the Grid Serve points which is annoying and I think eventually Tesla will open up more / all of their charge points to significantly increase their revenue!

I think you were just very unlucky with your experience. I have used that very same charger about 5 times now and have never (yet) had an issue.

I am currently driving a Corsa as my car is being repaired (I was rear-ended by a bus). I forgot how loud the engine is. You obvs get used to it driving every day.
Also, does anyone know when the next software update will be out?

I'm on 2.7.1 (July update) if it helps? We seem to lag behind the U.S. in OTA updates.

I'm still emotionally attached to 1.6 but going to the dealer to have it surgically removed soon.
Good luck with that!

I’ve got the same problem but my dealer flatly refused to do anything unless something pops up when they plug my car in to the computer!

It’s the first time I’ve taken a car to a garage and they’ve flatly refused to investigate the problem?

Ford’s customer service team are meant to be liaising with them so we’ll see how that goes….
