Has anyone, other than me, checked tracker recently. Just wondering if anyone has noticed any changes? I haven't.
Check at least once a day - no change at present. Trust me when it does you'll all know ?

Again never had a red car, I did own a black Alfa GTV with a blood red Momo interior! Loved that car! Have also owned a number of both red and white Ducatis in the past though on a black one now!

quite miffed about the Android software stuff. Have financed for 4 years so will have to look at it to change to shorter maybe. However it’s done through work. Will have to put up with it probably but not happy development.

I've read in another thread that android auto is crashing phones. Sounds like the sync 4 software isn't a fully finished product.

I'm sure it will only be a short term thing - the compatibility issues between Sync4A and Android will get resolved quite quickly. While annoying certainly not worth cancelling or shortening a contact over it.

No I have an iPhone. I meant the Android auto to be adopted by Ford in 2023 for the operating system.

There is no way they can make something totally Android and ignore Apple compatability millions of potential customers would be lost. The same applies for those adopting Apple based (Kia if memory serves).

I’m not worried about that as I’m sure they will keep iPhone comparability.
I think Ford won’t updating over the air after 2023 when they are switching to Android operating system for new cars instead of the present operating system they use for sync4.

I think people are seeing the Android name being used in this press release and assuming the entire system is going to be Android only.

Ford have said they are migrating the back end software to the Google platform, that does not mean the entire system.

Many car manufacturers have their infotainment software running on all sorts of dodgy proprietary platforms based on Java and god knows what, and they cost a fortune to maintain and often lag behind customer expectations and modern capabilities.

Outsourcing this to someone else (ie Google) saves money, and allows the front end developers the freedom to work on a decent and up to date platform that can be device agnostic.

Are you trying to say that you are concerned that SYNC4A cars will get abandoned - or that the Google system won’t support OTA updates?

.... because either of those outcomes would be commercial suicide and are highly unlikely!

Let's see. Volvo are doing this already, the polestar and XC40 recharge run Android software while the older models like my XC90 still run the Volvo OE Sensus software.

I am sure with Ford it will be newer developed models which use Android OS while ongoing models will continue running Sync. It will be a long time before all those models runs out their production cycles and Sync stops getting supported entirely.
