I didn't change any data - just organised it by type and by order status.

I was checking to see if anyone else with an AWD ER had their car "In Transit" and the answer is no.

The only cars that have been produced and are in transit are AWD SR or RWD cars.

Hey Bill - you can't take the blame - there was far more going on than just the column re-sorting. Other anonymous users were messing with the data itself.

...to be fair I think that was probably due to unforeseen production and scheduling issues in Mexico rather than your order change.

The UK pre-order process gave them an idea of what people wanted - but the cars were never going to be built to order (that's why the tracker just says "Retail" in the Customer name box. Note the US orders have the actual customer surname in that field)

They then planned to go ahead and make a load in various colours and models based roughly on the demand for each, and would then match those orders with vehicles once they came off the line.

The problem came when supply chain issues started to affect production, and people started dropping out due to COVID financial concerns. It caused a bit of a mismatch in stock to orders.

.... and that brings us to where we are today. We have a ship load of vehicles on their way, some of which have been matched to customers, the rest is stock up for grabs which will sell while in transit.

Unfortunately that leaves a load of customers still waiting for cars to be produced and shipped.

What I still can't get my head around is that there are so many of us that are having to wait for our cars to be produced, why don't they offer us the chance to take one of the built ones? They would get more income in, more cars on the road and subsequently sell more of the production for later months.

It's such bad business practice.

They've given you a partial VIN - we can give you the rest to tag on the front of it to make it complete.

You'll be able to use it on the tracker at the top of this page to see where you are in the production process.

First start off with adding WF0TR1 at the beginning - I'm just calculating the rest for you.

Depending on your model the start of the VIN is standard. The tracker tells you lots of info and various dates.
The dealer should give you an estimate. Mine was early April.., now July. My Tracker data is pretty sparse so I guess yours will be too. With the Vin you can also add your car to the App.

I contacted my dealer there to see if any change to delivery date he gave me a couple of weeks ago of the 8th May. And there is!
new ETA date is now........

29th May!!! Wtf. The car was built end of November. It’s been pushed back another 3 weeks and still no comms from Ford to update. Getting beyond a joke. Hopeful it’s gonna be on that boat leaving soon and date will change for the better but I’m really not holding out much hope any more....

What does the vin checker have for 'ship date' and status field?

Unfortunately that won't work. You have to generate a check digit at digit 9 which is based on the first 8 and the last 8 digits of the VIN.

I've managed to create iwantonenow's VIN via private message directly

It has spurred me on to make a spreadsheet that will allow you to create your VIN from the last 5 digits alone - I tell you it's pure witchcraft ? ? ?

Aah I see. I assumed the 9th digit related to the colour of the car so assumed it would be the same as mine. I noticed my business partners rapid red had a different digit.

Mine was the same. Was 8th May now 22nd May. Unless there are major holdups in Antwerp and the cars are on the ship this week I still think they will be with us earlier than that date

I'm almost to scared to call my dealer for an update!

I'm just going to pretend the last few months haven't happened and stick with the end of March date I was given back then ? Ignorance is bliss
