Ford reduced the price of the car in the US. They reduced the price in NL because of tax changes over there so let's see if they do anything for us. I doubt it but as I have said many times, I'm forever the optimist
Yes let's stay positive. Of course there will be small print that will discharge Ford of any grant obligations. That will particularly grind if it were to happen to those of us who should have had their cars already but have been delayed by Ford. Personally, I'm not going to question it or raise it to my company until someone formally contacts me to tell me my signed contract value needs to change. I'll take a view then.

If they dont then it's a principle here that they would be treating the uk market inequally.

This would change a lot of people’s agreed finances. I would have to re look at mine as I wanted to spend less on my car.

I have to as I need a car and can't wait until delivery day to find out the price is now £50k when I can get a kuga full spec petrol for around just over half that. They've just made they incentive to go electric tip the wrong way now and made it go in favour of staying petrol.

I expect this will sway a lot of people back the other way as over 4 years this will probably add in the order of 65 GBP a month to a Lease or PCP.
I think the government has gone too early on this as there was just starting to be a buzz around Electric cars.

That's what sums up my situation too. I don't have the extra dosh. An extra £3k might not seem a lot to a bystander on a £50k car but I cant go there.

Couple that with all the reported problems/issues and there being only a 3 year warranty - I just think it would tip the risk level on my money too high.

Unfortunately I would be with you I have all my finance in place and an extra £3000 will be a deal breaker for me and a new petrol will be ordered ?. Id3's etc just do not do it for me.

When Ford first put the finance calculator up on the MME pages on the website the figures were always doable for me working on the full price (that was the only option) so when the government upped the qualifying price for the grant to £50000 and Ford reduced the price of the RWD ER to £49980 it was happy days. Back in February I asked my dealer to redo my finance quote to take away the grant (even then I had an notion it would change before we took delivery) and I think the figures are still doable. I would suggest that before anyone jumps ship because of this news you hang fire for a few days to see what. if anything, Ford come up with. They MIGHT reduce the price, they MIGHT give 0% finance or they COULD do nothing. In my opinion it is better to sell a few hundred cars at £3000 discount than lose the sale of those cars completely. FORD, the ball is in your court.

Zero % finance would be a very creative idea. I think they should be doing it anyway as the petrol cars get it but it might keep people on board. Not sure me though.

This will likely have blind-sided all EV makers, including Ford. DfT haven't given any pre-warning to the industry on this, and there is likely to be a big backlash today.

So Ford will need some time to work out their response and what it means for existing orders, finance etc. I was told by a Ford sales rep at the London Mach E event last year that Ford would honour the PICG value if it were to change suddenly (don't take that as gospel though!!).

Ok I will swear. The people who did this are thoughless bar stewards.

Check with your dealer, has the application for grant already been submitted?

If so, will the government honour existing applications that are submitted for cars on route?
