Ok I will swear. The people who did this are thoughless bar stewards.

Check with your dealer, has the application for grant already been submitted?

If so, will the government honour existing applications that are submitted for cars on route?
The dealer cant put the application for the grant through until the car has been registered so the answer to that question will be NO.

Frustrating thing is my car has been built in December and sat in Mexico for 3 months.

If they had got their act together and got the car here for early 2021 like they kept saying this would not have been an issue for me.

It is very likely that both myself and my business partner will be cancelling our cars if we need to pay and extra 6k between us over the next 3 years

that conflicts with what my dealer says so it's still worth checking.

that is a compelling argument that Ford has some responsibility here. Actually a lot of responsibility which is why I would not accept a £3k hit.

I have informed my dealer and have an immediate response. As has been said this has blindsided the car industry. He is sending it up the chain and has said he hopes that it will not affect confirmed orders but not confirmed yet.

With all due respect, your dealer is WRONG

Orders can only be validated if all of the vehicles within the order:
• Have a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) listed. Dealers should check this has the correct transposition of numbers and letters (e.g. Z instead of 2 or 7).
• Have been registered with the DVLA
• Have the correct vehicle registration number (cherished plate details should be entered if they are going to be used when the vehicle is registered)
• Have a correct date of registration (which matches data on the DVLA database)

I'm only relaying what i've been told. Perhaps the application has been sent internally ready to be submitted by ford head office to the gov.

Looks like there is to be a Ford WebEx with dealers tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully there might be some (good) news after that. Not sure whether that was a prebooked event or whether is has been arranged after this mornings news. I wait with baited breath and my ? ?

Just to lighten the mood a touch. The MSC Immacolata ( with many of our cars on) just went under the Delaware memorial bridge and will be shortly docking in Wilmington. Hopefully this will be the last stop before it heads to Antwerp

Out of curiosity does anyone on the forum have their car on the Grande Houston? You would have a "compound out" date on Vista of 22nd Feb, and may have been notified via the lists given to dealers.

So far all the posts on here that are confirmed on a ship seem to be on the Immacolata.

Grahame,

As I understand it, once the cars on on the ships, for the ones they have orders for, the dealers have "paid" for them and own them until we collect and pay?

Well, this would be the final nail in the coffin of my order.

In my opinion, EVs are priced too high as it is and whilst it would still be doable for me it takes the car even further out of what I think is a reasonable price for what it is.

Guess it will be back to the old reliable ICE car for me. ☹

That is what I have been told and what I have been given the impression is happening. Dealers aren't allowed to have "stock" cars. The demo cars they will be getting will be leased from Ford so they won't be able to sell them on. Obviously if they put in an order for one then that is a different matter.
