21S42 includes removing the windscreen. Ford allows a hire car for 3 days because of the multi stage, complex process to complete the full FSA.
OK - so I've been a good boy and I've gone away to check my facts. Nothing mortifies me more than the idea I may be giving out duff info to you all.

The Field Service Action Memos, and the associated Service Instructions were updated in January 2022. The version of the document @neiloakley is quoting is the original USA guide (which I think I uploaded onto the UK thread last year)

There is a newer version of those docs which originate from Ford EU, and they are the ones the UK dealerships are using.

21S42 - Panoramic Roof Adhesion (is now just for the roof and does not include the windscreen)
21C22 - Windshield Adhesion (is just for the windscreen)
21P22 - Software Updates (should be completed at same time as 21S42)

The updated guide for 21S42 re-uses some of the workshop images showing the windscreen having been removed but states "NOTE: It is not required to remove the windshield as shown in the image. The windshield has been removed for guidance on interior vehicle protection only."

I have attached all three of the new versions and I can rest easy tonight knowing that my car hasn't been bodged, and will indeed be going back to have the windscreen sorted as and when my VIN becomes eligible.

In that case, I apologise for giving outdated information. Thanks for sharing the updated documents.

Hi guys,

Firstly, apologies for bringing the conversation back about 600 pages, however i'm still waiting on my 2021 build ?

Secondly, i'm hoping that due to a lot of you already receiving your 2021 builds you can advise me accordingly.

My MME, ordered back in March 2021 was only built on 23rd Dec last year and is currently sat in Mexico plant, no movement since build and zero updates from VMACS since 3rd / 4th Jan.

The next ship (Grande Texas) looks like it's due into Veracruz on the 14th Feb with two other scheduled a couple weeks apart through Feb / Mar.

My query to those of you who have already experienced this process is whether or not any updates would prelude shipping hold or whether the tracking simply goes from no movement to, shipping hold / on the ship?

At the moment i'm at a loss as to whether or not my MME will make it on this next ship or be waiting even longer kicking its heels in the sun whilst scanning the horizon for another vessel due in to Veracruz 2-4 weeks later.

Your insights would be most valued and appreciated.

Thanks!

*edit - i've also (repeatedly) tried to reach both concierge and the esales team at Ford to no avail.

For what it's worth, my dealer has also followed this process. The panoramic roof was completed as a separate action, and once a fresh windscreen is allocated for my car, it's going back in for that, which I believe will be completed by an Autoglass contractor.

Hi,
My March ordered SR RWD was delivered last week.

What have the delaership you selected it to be delivered too said? It's worth the wait!

Thanks for this.

It's annoying as i kept getting fobbed off by the dealer with very vague reasons as to the delay in build. The dealer (TrustFord Barnsley) have repeatedly told me very little but i don't blame them, it's more the fact that Ford are giving little or no information to the dealers themselves from what i can tell.

I'm just getting a little impatient knowing that after 9 months of waiting for the vehicle to be built, it's finally completed yet i'm no closer to knowing when my MME will be leaving Mexico and finally making its trek across the Atlantic.

I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, but the wait is becoming tedious ?

@AzumA good luck and I hope you get your MME soon. I ordered mine 17/09/2021, SR was told end of March 2022, that date has been pushed out to June 2022, just hoping it’s not much later than that. On the plus side I’ve just sold my 7 month old ID3 for £5k more than I paid for it. Every little helps. ???

And here i was thinking i was one of the last waiting for a 2021 build MME haha. The Wheresmymme site it really handy if you have the VIN - actually gave me more info than my dealer thus far!

Fingers crossed you get an update soon and no more delays! Good news on the ID3, the plus side of limited new vehicles being built right now i guess?!

Keep us posted as to the progress of your MME Ben ;)

I would imagine your dealer is in the same boat as mine in the sense they get little by way of information from Ford themselves.

That being said, if your MME has been built you should have access to the VIN (perhaps ask again?), that way you can at least see on the wheresmymme site whether or not it has actually been built and perhaps give you a bit more information as to it's progress etc.

I get the situation we find ourselves in with chip shortages and covid still doing the rounds means things are unlike anything we've ever experienced with new builds and factory orders, but you'd think this would encourage the manufacturers to be MORE forthcoming with information and updates, not less so.

Either way, i'd approach your dealer again and see if they can give you the VIN?

Absolutely not! You're buying a relatively expensive car from them, the least they can do is be as transparent as possible, ESPECIALLY with the way things currently are...

I'm sure if you're nice about it they can give you some more info - if they have the car as being built they should have the VIN months ago when it was given a scheduled build slot.

My MME was scheduled to be built Aug 21, even though it didn't get built until Dec 21 due to part shortages etc, i was still given the VIN when the build date was pencilled in at the Mexico plant.

Good luck with the dealer!

Mine has been in for the software updates / pano roof recall. Dropped it off Monday morning, now they are having trouble with the updates and having to get Ford Technical involved ?‍♂.

I 'might' have it back by the end of the week but not holding my breath, a 2 day job has turned into a week already.

same with mine - took them 12 days just to fix the software problem.
