Update so far, I haven’t spoken to the tech as yet but had call from sales director to say car is fine, they’ve “done what they needed to” however couldn’t tell me what that was. Couldn’t confirm if they have done the updates but he presumed so.
They have asked to keep it another 24 hours as they have a Mach E specialist on site in the morning.
I have asked them to try it on a a fast charger to make sure there are no issues which they will do tomorrow once they have warmed it up. He did ask me if I had tried to charge it in accessory mode, apparently a number of cases have been reported with issues after folks have tried to charge when the car wasn’t actually switched off. I assured him despite being female and blonde I’m not a complete eejit and am used to an EV although I can see how that might happen if you aren’t used to a very quiet car.

Fingers crossed Stormzy is home tomorrow!
They hooked up FDRS today at 11:20am and just ran a self test. They then switched to PTS (another system) to get the workshop manual.

It does seem your OBCC is now up to date, but you still have the GWM outstanding.

EDIT: They cleared all the fault codes today (DTC). The only code that sticks out to me is “Propulsion System Status Signal Performance” and “Hybrid/EV Battery Contactor Request Signal Performance”. No idea what that is.

Cheers for this I have asked to speak to the tech guy tomorrow as want to hear some answers direct rather than via sales who are just placating me rather than giving me information.
I will ask about the remaining update and what errors were showing and let you know what he says. My biggest concern is that it could happen again

To be fair to the dealer, they are under no obligation to do the GWM updates, unless it’s part of an SSM, or TSB. They have updated your OBCC which would be the cause of your initial problem. We just want them to test it before giving it back to you.

After doing some research this appeared to be the issue (more or less) which hopefully the OBCC update has fixed.

The above was a link I found based on the error code thrown.

@Kezza Bee74 Do you have Stormzy back now?
I do! picked him up an hour ago, went for a good blast and tried a fast charge on the way home without any problems. The mach e guy said the issue was with WACM and they have had a couple of other cars with the same issue across the country. He was confident it should be fine now. Thank you for your help it is greatly appreciated. I’ve been told to come up with a better name though ?

WACM!? That’s the wireless iPhone charger! I honestly can’t see how that killed the car!

Im so glad you’ve got your car back, but I’m just not convinced the WACM was the cause.

Maybe someone else can comment, but so glad you’re back in the car.

I have queried this as that was my understanding, info given to me by the handover guy when I picked up, I didn’t get to speak to the tech myself as have no access to phone today. No one was in service either by the time I got there at 6. I will chase this up tomorrow and let you know

update:

my family is falling out of love with the car, purely for ride quality.

we come from having a Jaguar XF as a daily drive and my wife drives a C Class, so there's quite a difference in what we are used to in terms of bounciness.

also, they say that for a car that costs upwards of 55k, the ride shouldn't be this bad. fair point from them.

the Mustang badge doesn't mean anything for us. we are not into car lore and that it is designed to be sporty doesn't cut any ice for us.

please note, this is not to discourage anyone, existing users or prospective owners. this is purely a personal view.

barring the ride quality, the car is fantastic and i haven't had a single issue with it.

in any case, all this is background and fyi to anyone for below:

my car is on a PCP and i reached out to Ford Credit on selling it privately.

to my surprise they agreed. i have to make the settlement in 7 days once i sell.

i seriously did not expect this, so am glad.

my car's valuation (from Autotrader, webuyanycar) is much higher than settlement value and i think if i list it on Autotrader, i might get even more than their valuation estimate. the difference will easily pay for the down payment on the next vehicle.

p.s. there's zero chance of my selling quickly.

i will want to switch to another SUV/CUV EV, maybe an Ioniq 5, but with the current availability, doesn't look like i will do anything for months. i am not even able to book test drives!

p.p.s happy to discuss with others who might be in a similar position, particularly on what EV next.

It is no surprise that Ford Credit will let you sell your car privately. I had my previous Kuga on PCP and sold that for a good price privately. What has surprised me is they are giving you seven days after you sell the car to pay back the PCP balance. They told me when I sold my Kuga I had to pay them first. Technically they own the car until they send you a letter to say that it is free of finance. What's to stop you selling the car and then doing a runner. It would then leave your buyer in the ?. No car and no money.

I’ve genuinely never thought the ride quality to be an issue. I had an e class AMG before this and it’s pretty similar even on the roads around here which can be bad. It’s firm, but no more so than any other sporty car

yeah, that surprised me as well. this is the specific line from their response.

' You can sell the vehicle and use the proceeds to settle the remaining balance on your account. In this event, you must pay us the proceeds of sale within seven days of the sale.'

they know where i live ... that's my guess. :) and whatever happens to the buyer is not their problem.

@portlandg i might contact you if things progress to ask how you balanced receipt of money and settlement of account.

like i said, i don't expect anything to happen quickly at all. i need to first test drive other vehicles to decide and there aren't any even for that!

with the way things are, things are unlikely to move this calendar year.
