That message in FordPass about "partial response received" is not related to your software updates. It's just a server bug, many on here experience that, though mine seems to have stopped doing it as of recently, good ol Ford servers.
It wadnt about partial response it is there is an alert. The alerts is update failed.

I also forgot to mention setting the parking brake too, that's required for this one as well.
12v 99%, parking brake set, lighs off. Used update now plugged in, unplugged, let it sit over night, short drive, long drive, inside, outside, same error. Tried every trick i read even tried rubbing my belly while jumping on one foot 3x while turning in circle, read sometimes that works.
What bothers me most dealer says nothing is wrong and cant reproduce the error. But looking on screen under updates seems to reproduce the problem . Or at least i thought update failing reproduced the problem. Especialy after having car 3 weeks. Not sure how else to "reproduce the problem" they did get it to move on the screen not sen error everyday. But ford pass still has error message and update screen seems to indicate not complete. I just assumed not completed meant not completed.

I see it's failing on low 12V battery. Drive or charge the vehicle for 6 continuous hours before immediately applying the update. Make sure you manually turn the headlight switch off before applying the update.
Is this a joke? Do I stand on one Foot staring at the moon also??

my car says in sync that it didnt complete but I never received any notices. Drove the car for 4 non continuous hours last week and charged for many hours to 100% the night before and no difference. I see many people have this also but since I haven’t received any updates since 6/6 thought it might be holding up future updates

still shows the following, see picture attached.

As I mentioned bringing in the car for service Monday , probably won’t do any good and if I didn’t have the yo-yo charging , 40 amp down to 32 and back to 40 I wouldn’t even bother bringing it in But I am heading on a trip to cape cod and figured better they look at it before I leave.

any words of wisdom would be welcome.

I did go to dealer! Said there was no problems and could no recreate the issue. I am not a technician so assumed meesages on ford app and update screen stating failed meant it failed. And thought seeing message on screen "re-created" the problem. Guess as long as it is a problem cant be re created. Guess all the messages are just for fun so i have things to look at on the screen and app.

Well, what do you know if that didn't work. Thank you for your help. This was after two 1-hour drives that I followed with a 3 1/2 hour charge--plus turning off the headlights. (FWIW, I had unsuccessfully tried updating after a longish charge before.) So was it really turning off the headlight light switch that made the difference or perhaps my drive/charge session was longer than before? BTW, a second (shorter) update followed at 1 am and was fine.

As to the 12V battery charge, is there a way that little ole me with no special equipment can tell what the % charge is?

Not without special equipment, which could be a <$20 voltage reader that plugs into the 12v outlet.

I tried those as well as a mulititude of other things and 4.2.6 won't update. I thought about hooking up the 12v battery to a charger, but not sure if it might cause problems to the cars electrical system.

You can, just make sure you use a body ground, not the negative battery terminal.

My car was stuck on a 4.2.6 that was not uploaded.

I brought the car in this morning and just received a call from the SA he said that they have successfully uploaded and fixed the issue.
