Update on Mach-E launch progress from engineering friends in Mexico

The thing with Android Auto (AA) and Apple Carplay (ACP) is that they are basically screen projections from the phone onto the dash radio (like VNC or RDP for all of us computer geeks on here).

This means that those UI's will improve with the phone's software and not the car's software. For legacy autos this is huge: Your nav UI will always be current.

With the Mach-E, however, since it has OTA update capability the navigation software in it can also keep up.

So it will be a race

Races and competition is good.

The thing I like about Apple Carplay is that I usually rent 30-50 cars a year. Having that same interface on all of them with Google maps, Waze, Podcasts and music makes it much easier to use.

Depends on the integration of the route planning with the charge level. I'd pay for Tesla's route planner. Nothing on Android or Apple can even come close. If the MME has that level of ease and usefulness, then I would have no problem paying.

All that being said, in 3 years there very well could be an Android/Apple app that does similar things.

Android Automotive in the Polestar and Volvo XC40 Recharge use Google Maps *with* battery SoC information, I would hope Ford will work with Google to pass through the battery SoC data to Google Maps inside Android Auto.

I worry about some of y’all. CarPlay (and Android Auto) is so much better then any stock system. The calling, music, and maps UIs are way more intuitive, less clunky, and prettier. If it took more than 30 seconds for the initial pairing you are doing something seriously wrong.

I think something going for CarPlay (and I assume Android Auto) is that in the past most vehicles required a physical connection to the phone to work. But in the last couple of years, a bluetooth connection has been possible, making it even more seamless to just sit in your car and have CarPlay (or Android Auto, I assume) automatically load up without having to plug your phone in.

I still hope Sync 4A is a better system though, would rather not use CarPlay and just stick to the MME’s built-in system to control everything.

This is likely a stupid question but with Waze will it show you that you both that you need to charge and where to go?? I set it up for electric car and went in a trip with my current ice car to just see if it showed anything but it did not. I assume which I hate doing that somehow Waze will work with Sync 4 or Ford pass once the car is activated. HELP

Just totally done with the why is it taking so long crying. Wtf people have we become. My nephew's model 3 took 9 months from the time he ordered it when it first came out. All launches of new vehicles take time. Which one was super quick and had so much info out there? This is not driving to a car lot and it's there sitting. WE ALL MADE A PRE-ORDER.

Worst pandemic in 100 years, check. The first launch of a BEV, check. Built further away from the other plants here in the united states, check. We all have a ford tracker to see. We can all ask for our vin to look up.

I guess people wish ford missed this up so we could have something to scream about now.

On the other side of it. If you are not happy with the real reason which is the production date you got stuck with or up to 6 weeks to deliver by all means don't buy and move on. No one is forcing anyone.

When the mache is out and if it's as awesome as a lot of people are saying it is. You can put your order back in and wait for even a longer time.

One of the biggest reasons I’ve stripped everything even vaguely Android/google from my life, and I don’t use things like Facebook or Instagram is privacy. I realize complete privacy is impossible, but I don’t have to invite companies whose business model is centered on data-mining every aspect of my life into my home, car, phone, etc. I have a bit more trust in Apple - their business model doesn’t rely on mining my info without my knowledge, and fusing it. The same is true for Ford. Google is building compelling products and services to serve as platforms from which they can collect data. All my friends ridicule me by the way ????

If people are already waiting for like 9 months and need to wait another 3 or what and they cancel now they didn't want to REALLY buy it in the first place. Waiting is already 75% over now, if you can hold that long you should be able to wait another 3 months.

I've had 3 drive-along experiences around 10-15 minutes each and it was awesome! Too bad they didn't let me drive it myself

Often may be true, but some reasons not include (but not limited to):
Lease timing
Other vehicles on the market today instead of in 3 months from now that were not an option 9 months ago.
Test drives expected 6 months ago but still not available
Just because it's now 3 months, doesn't mean that will not slip more.

True, but you can always find a way.
my current lease car should be given back to my employer on 31-12-2020 but extended it to 28-2-2020 and can extend with 1 extra month to 31-3-2021 to be sure.
