We'll have navigation for the life of the vehicle, but connected services like real-time traffic and cloud-based routing will require a subscription.
Yes, just like I do with my C-Max today, but if I want to update the maps, I have to pay.

Info on my window sticker has changed and I’m not talking about the big date at the bottom. The number following the CUA has changed, the bolded four number digit right beside it also. Even the small date directly below special order has changed....wtf? I thought it was built December 15 as per Ford tracker tech page seems to indicate.
My window sticker changed just like yours and I see we are both Canadian. The small date was Nov 23, now shows Dec 21, but www.macheforum.com/site/pages/tracker shows Nov. 28 production date. I have no idea what any of it means now.

So I have a cousin who graduated from Glenwood, Sam Halkias. He played football with Dierdorf. I was McKinley ‘78. Akron U undergrad and Law. I have now been on the Plain Local School board for 21 years now, and it is now GlenOak High School.
Went to high school with big Dan et alii. He tried to recruit me for the wrestling team. I am a small guy and the lighter weight classes were tough to fill. Freshmen were at the Jr High back then. I moved after my sophomore year (Sam's senior year) and a bunch of us started a wrestling team at Canfield HS.
Dan and Sam's senior football season was stellar. My next door neighbors were Randy and Tim Fox. Timmy went onto OSU as well(played with Archie) and a great career in the Pros.

Yup, December 21 me too. Originally my small date was December 1.
Have you put your vin number in the tracker to see what your production date was? Interesting that we both show Dec 21 now.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the map data itself (not the live traffic but the streets/etc) was live (or auto-updates regularly). Meaning it wouldn't need future updates like Ford is always trying to sell us on other models.

At least I hope it's that way. Would be a shame for a car this connected to have a static 2020 map. Especially since it has Android Auto that people can (and probably would) just switch over to if the maps got out of date.

That was my impression as well. And since Ford has stated that we will have access to Nav for the life of the car, I don't think we will have to pay for conventional map updates. For what it's worth, Ford has also said that they will not charge for the ability to control the car with the app over cellular for the life of the car. This is a big deal. My wife's Pacifica lost this ability after the first year of ownership and reinstating it would cost $14.99/mo, which is ludicrous. Volvo charges $200 a year and doesn't allow you to remote start the car at all without it. Remote access is a big deal to me, and I'm very happy to know that it will continue to work with the MME.

Yes, for the first 3 years. That means for the first 3 years it's more or less current. After that, you need to renew your subscription. That's still a huge improvement. With annual or biannual updates, even if you pay, your maps are almost perpetually out of date.

Your maps won't become static until 2024, and after that depending on your service renewal. Depending on what Ford will charge for renewal, many people will update, and some won't no matter what it cost. From Ford's point of view the whole point of having connected services, is to generate some revenue from people who keep their cars for 10+ years, and maybe from people who buy the car used.

According to the window sticker:
CNCTD BLT-IN NAV(3-YR INC)
After 3 years, it stops being connected, unless you renew. You can still use the navigation without being connected, but any updates would not be loaded. Most of roads and streets won't change, but things like points of interest would become static.

I‘m okay with that. I likely won’t renew unless it’s bundled with something else that I care more about. Keeping remote control of the car over cellular is a bigger deal for me, so I’m glad that will remain free.

It's interesting that after a lot of discussion that OKTB was imminent, that it has never happened & shipping has not been OK'd by Ford.

Yes it has, and cars are shipping...

Go back about a thousand posts and you'll find it.

*opinion* What is there when you buy the car should stay with the car. If they want to add new features/updates/services at a charge then great but functionality that was there should not be taken away from the car
