Most EA stations around Philly are $0.48/kWh. Sign up for for their membership for $7 and you get 25% off. You can cancel anytime. A 60 kWh session pays off the monthly membership fee.
I have menbership with EA but the last two times I used EA they charged me the non-member price and I have not been able to get thru on my app because their two part security isn't sending out the codes. Going to dump them, But did run into a Mercedes charger at Bucee's and they wanted $.81 per kwh !! Oh, and EA's non-member price here is $.56 and member price is $.48. I try to stick with FPL which is $.30.

I’ll add an odd DCFC twist. The Kia dealer here has its own DCFC unit owned by them. Instead of using it, though, they take 100% of their EVs to the local public charger and park their cars there using the public charger 10 hours per day 6 days a week. Why? “Our charger is too expensive!” On the charger they own. The fees they’re paying for using the public charger are 62¢ per kWh and 51¢ per kWh (Off peak is 9 am 5 pm daily). They’re actually being sued by their customers because they’re violating the sales agreements on their EVs allowing for free charging at their unit. That unit is now perma-broke. ;)

On a trip home from Florida, around Tallahassee, a truck pulled in with a trailer. They then wheeled out a fancy EV (I forget the brand, I posted it a few years back) and got in line to charge. I said to them - why aren't you charging this at your dealership, and they basically ignored me.

So... get up at 2:30AM, drive to a public DCFC EV charger and sit for 40 minutes to fuel up. Awesome!
Apparently you didn't read what I posted. 2:30AM would be the cheapest, yes. But, 4AM to 11AM or 8PM to midnight are also cheaper than the 11AM to 8PM slot he picked. Nothing about 2:30AM that I see. And, if you used a Tesla SuperCharger, you could go at 7:15AM and be done before 8AM when rates go up.

One of the challenges with owning an EV is it requires people to think more than owning a gas vehicle. In some cases, that's too hard for people and they sell and go back to gas.

Lighten up, Francis.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Did the OP use Ford's Blue Oval network to charge the car? It looks like it from the screenshot. I have found that using the Blue Oval plug and play never gives you the best rate. In fact, you often pay more for the convenience of using the plug and play. I always use the app for whatever charging network I'm using rather than Ford's Blue Oval. Tesla consistently beats EVGo, Charge point, etc.

When I travel I take my ICE car because high kwh they charge. I save money on the road with ICE and can stop anywhere I want. Don't have to stop only where EV chargers are at. Now around town and charging at home I save a butt load over my ICE car. I pay .09 a kwh and get 4.4 kwh around town.

I haven’t had easy access to my home charger for the past few days, so I took my car to the EVgo charger nearby. 47.886 KWh cost $30.94. I know electricity is stupidly expensive in the Philadelphia area, but this seems a bit … excessive? Does this sound reasonable? Note that I am not a “member” of any charging network because I rarely DCFC.
Price difference between home £0.14/kWh and DCUK @ up to £0.82/kWh in UK is a similar situation.

I use a LOT of DCUK due to regular road trips that start are usually upward of c300 miles and the way I see it is that if you want to see the investment in a charging infrastructure you just have to satisfy yourself that it’s worth paying the extra.

You don’t get owt for nowt!

Just a shame you’re in the situation where you need to buy your charges away from home because your home charger’s pants!

Hope you get it sorted very soon.

They’re renovating one of my bathrooms and have turned my garage into a storage locker/workshop. Hopefully, the project ends this week.

Here in CT, my home electricity is a little under $0.09/kWh. Just bought my Mach-E this weekend, so I haven’t figured out details around peak or off peak times for that.

But more relevant to this thread: I stopped at the first rest stop between me and work, just to walk through the charging process for the first time, and the Applegreen charger was $0.59/kWh, delivering at 55kW. Applegreen says there’s a discount through the app, but they don’t specify, and the app appears to be universally reviled.

Interesting that you have Applegreen, too, they are installing tens of charge points at hundreds of locations throughout the UK helping make the UK’s charge infrastructure probably the best in the world which is a bit easier on our relatively smaller island than in a massive country like the US.

There IS “quality of life” to consider. ?
If I'm going to be up at absurd hours of the night again, I want my former pay rate plus the usual 6 hrs 35 minutes minimum pay per duty period. Fair is fair. Otherwise I'm sleeping in.

Yeah - I noticed that their charger locations are largely east coast US and the UK. I wonder what that business model is. The charger certainly worked as advertised (quick swipe-to-pay with my phone and then 55 kW rate of delivery). I'm hoping to use it so rarely that figuring out the app would be a waste of time.
