I have 2022 Mach e and a few weeks ago I noticed navigation prompt sounds stopped working. Earlier when I use the car GPS there would prompts on when to turn, red light camera, hill, curve etc. But now none of those prompts make any sounds. I tried to increase the volume using the steering wheel but no luck.

Also using the voice prompt button on the steering wheel I am not able to perform any voice commands prompts either. Nothing happens when I press that button. Also the wake word 'Ok Ford' doesn't do anything either.

One thing to note if I use Android auto all the navigational prompts work properly. I think there is something wrong with Sync system and some how all the sound is muted. Is there any way to unmute or increase the voice prompt sound and enable the voice prompts?

I really don't want to take this to a dealer if there is an easy fix with some software feature that got turned off which needs to be re-enabled.

Any voice prompt volume is tied to the event. In other words, adjusting the volume without the event happening doesn't do anything. Try doing Navigation, say "navigate to flugersburg" so that the response is what the hell is that, and turn the volume up WHILE the response would be coming out.

Post back if that doesn't work.

Like I mentioned using the steering wheel button to trigger/speak the command nothing happens. Even saying the hot word 'Ok Ford' does nothing. So even if I speak any navigation or other commands like 'Tune too' etc. the car doesn't hear me and doesn't take that action.

Only way I can enter a navigation address is by manually entering it in the GPS. But once I hit go there is no sound. I even tried to increase the volume after pressing 'Go' as I think that's when the GPS starts it's prompt but there is still no sound.

Have you done the Sync reboot? i.e. hold volume down and next track on your steering wheel at the same time until the center screen goes dark

Nope that didn't work either. The screen went dark and when booted up still no prompt sound.

Any update on this? I mostly use Google maps with CarPlay and rarely use the built in Nav but on a 6 hr trip today decided to try it again. In the past I’ve heard the voice prompts but this time nothing. Rebooting Sync didn’t fix it. I do have the voice prompts enabled in the Nav settings. If relevant I’m at Power up 6.2.

Power-Up 6.2.0 has a few issues... Some vehicles lose Ok Ford, steering wheel activation, and Alexa.

Only fix for now is to perform a Master Reset. You'll have to re-setup things afterwards such as your vehicle activation, PaaK, and Bluetooth connections. Make sure you're parked at home and have your physical key fob and the master (factory) door pin code.

Thanks but that sounds painful. PAAK works as does Bluetooth. Since I rarely use the Nav I’m tempted to see if gets fixed with the next Power Up.

Yeah I haven't heard anything yet on possible fixes from Ford, but I agree... I'd hold off for awhile too, with fingers crossed.

I have a 2021 Job 1 so my vehicle's sitting at Power-Up 6.1.0 for now. So my voice prompts still work. But other stuff is broken like the occasional lock ups of SYNC when I start the vehicle, and the connected services menu is always empty now.

Looking back over your earlier note and I now realize I also seem to have lost responsiveness to a few steering wheel buttons. Nothing happens if I hit the phone button or the voice button (unless I hold latter down for longer in which case it activates Siri).

I got my issue resolved by doing a master reset at the dealer. I know it was annoying for the PAAK settings removed, and the other preset settings like seat and radio adjustments. But it took about 15 minute's to get everything back in order. Since the reset navi works prefectly .

Thanks for the update. Did you need your master door PIN code as @macchiaz-o suggested above? As luck would have it I can’t find the card that came with the car. I feel like I hid it somewhere maybe in the car after reading that others did that.

I didn't need it for the reset but afterwards it got set to the default one. Lucky I took a picture of card so had the number backed up to Google Photos.
