I am considering getting started with FDRS and I wanted to ask if anyone (particularly in Canada) has had issues with declined warranty or anything like that because they have used FDRS.
I've used FDRS for years now and zero issues from my dealer. In fact they noticed all my Forscan changes (specifically disable the sounders) when I brought it in to get a front sensor replaced. So at least for me, I can say I'm lucky my dealer was enthusiastic about my FDRS and Forscan changes. I did at least two recalls in FDRS they got credit for doing as well, so if anything I'm making them money lol
FDRS is just another tool for installing parts. In this case, itās a Ford tool for installing Ford parts. I donāt know what the right to repair laws are like in Canada, but if they are anything like the laws here in the US, there should be no issue using Fordās tool to install Ford parts With regard to warranty. It is the same exact tool the dealer uses to install the same exact factory parts.
I've had no issues using FDRS on my two cars for last two years in Ontario (CA). Dealer does their mechanical & recall stuff BAU. Dealer knows I use FDRS to keep the cars "SW Module" current, look at any DTCs.
