Need advice. I am off to do some paperwork for my GT. Reserved 1/10/20, ordered 4/29/2021 delivery about November 17th. I have been inbrief contacts with the dealership they have let me know the don't accept the x-plan .
When searching for the VIN it shows up on their website saying in transit with a $10k upcharge. Should I be concerned? Any advice to keep them in line?
Thanks
Andy

Did you have an agreement to buy it for a set price? In writing?

Asking for $10K does no more harm than refusing and making a counter offer. If you decline their offer to rip you off, you get your deposit back.

The cards are on their table and they own the casino.

As long as you agreed to the price when you placed the order than you should be good. As for the X-Plan, its up to the dealership if they do not want to participate. Its unusual to do that on a special order unit though. My dealership will not do it on in stock units but, if someone wants to order then we will honor the X-plan.

Check your order page on Ford’s web site to see if there is a number next to “Difference from Total MSRP.” If it is zero, the price agreed upon between you and the dealer is MSRP.

Ford frowns on ADM for special-ordered vehicles. Talk to the dealer to see if you can get this squared away. If they are set on the ADM, contact Ford Marketing and get them involved in getting the ADM removed.

If the website doesn’t show the $10G ADM on your order page, you should be fine after you point that out. If not, tell them you understand that ADM was not to be added after the fact to online orders. If they persist, tell them you’re going to refer this to Mike Levine (@mrlevine on Twitter) and Emma Bergg (@ebergg on Twitter) at Ford Corporate. Mike often gets involved personally with dealerships when they try to add ADM to an order (and even sometimes when just adding ADM on Mach-Es in general).

Its a shame the joy of waiting since January and finally getting a new car is erased away by the fear of a Ford Dealer trying to take advantage of a customer by adding $10K to the price. Especially when they are already getting full MSRP for the vehicle. I would fight the fact they don't take X plan how can some dealers take it and other say they wont. Ford should require they all take it.

Well, I chose my dealer based on them not charging ADM, and I thought they’d take X-plan. ? on no ADM, but last week they told me they’re not doing X-plan. Too late to switch, obviously. I would have chosen a dealer half the distance from me who does X-plan if I had known.

How can you fight when it's not required?

Did you not communicate with the dealership regarding ADM’s prior to placing your order? Sounds like you may have played yourself. Not to be mean, but due diligence is due for a reason.

this is one of those cases where "getting screwed" doesn't mean what one would hope it means, unfortunately.

It never would have occurred to me that dealers would be marking up cars that you could order through the website if I hadn't read about it on this forum.

Not really, I think 99% of people didn't even think about ADMs BEFORE the chip shortage.
