I wholly disagree. The number display is not only limited to tenths, it also does not display all possible tenths values: it goes from 3.0 -> 3.1 -> 3.3 ->3.5 -> 3.7 -> 3.9. With that limited set of values, it is clearly an approximation
Fair enough. But it’s an approximation of the average :)

Ok, based on all our input, I have drafted an unambiguous icon for Ford to use in their trip screen (while coloring with my toddler). I have posted it here, now how can we get our perfect crowdsourced icon to for Ford to incorporate?

This symbol means your car is getting 3.9 miles per kiloWatt without using any battery power at all.

Possibly they've installed the new matter/anti-matter drive. This saves tremendously on vehicle weight. One gram of anti-matter should be more than enough for the entire life of the vehicle (which will be extremely short if you allow it to annihilate with matter too quickly). ?

I just re-read the wiki on this and the German word for this is Durchschnitt,

Durchschnitt.

I'm going to find a way to use this in conversation.

The circle with a slash through it is the mathematical symbol for average / mean value. So this is your average efficiency.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ø
I have never seen the minuscule symbol used for average or mean - not that I have seen everything. I've seen it mean Null or the Empty set or 0, but never mean. The typical symbols for mean are x̅ (x bar) or the Greek letter, μ (mu).

I see the minuscule symbol in front of the battery symbol and I'm not thinking good things. I'm thinking my battery is empty, I have a bad cell, I didn't get one point on the quiz, someone stole my catalytic converter, etc.

That symbol means someone has stolen your catalytic converter.
When my car comes in I will install a camera under the hood to catch the thief who is stealing the catalytic converters. We really need to shut down that gang!
