Can you guys tell me what this white thing is on the back of the rear view mirror? Looks like a light. I just installed my EZ Pass on the windshield right behind it and not sure if that will cause an issue. Thanks!

Likely a light sensor to regulate internal lighting. Day v night?

Jes sayin. Perhaps the turn down highbeam sensor. I used to know this stuff. I’m sure someone smarter will get to the answer. Plus I’m writing on the tail end of a six pack of Huss Scottsdale blonde.
Great ? Lager. Burp!

You need to install your transponder on the black areas, per you manual.

That is the sensor that determines if it is light or dark out.

That is the light sensor for the auto-dimming rear mirror. The mirror compares the light levels from the front and back of the mirror, if the back is brighter than the front sensor, then the mirror dims. If you cover this sensor during the daytime, the mirror will darken due to more light being sensed from behind. The sensor is there so the mirror doesn't darken during the day, do not cover it.

As mentioned previously, the toll transponders should only be mounted in the black areas above the mirror.

I really wish there was a way to disable the auto-dimming mirror, my previous car had a button to disable the feature.

It’s too dark at night for my taste.

I suppose if you really want it disabled long-term, you could disconnect its power cable.
