I recently drove a roadtrip from Finland to Germany and back through Sweden and Denmark - practically most charging stops required some battery heating due to the cold weather (rainy and temperatures below 20°C).

come on, it is not so bad in Norway if you do not live in Bergen

My experience from Nordic countries this summer has been that surprisingly many HPC sessions would have started with battery below 26°C if there hasn't been preconditioning. In that way the preconditioning is very useful also during summer - of course the most important benefit arrives very soon with autumn and winter.

I would be "satisfied" if I got the battery temperature to display double digits in the ODB scanner

So I did a longer trip and tried to verify if the battery is heated if you have a charger as nagivation target.
To be honest, I think my data is inconclusive, however it suggests that the heating may be present. I didn't find a suitable PID to monitor the PTC on, so I just monitored the battery temperature and ambient temperature.

Outside it was generally 21°C, and the battery kept 20°C for about 40 minutes, before rapidly increasing to 24°C which started about about 15KM before reaching the charging station. I don't really see any reason for the temparture to rise as the terrain was the same that held it to a steady 20°C before this.

After charging the HVB was 31°C and by the next time to charge it was still 29°C so didn't get to do another test.

More data needed to conclude.

Lovelt to drive in these temps! 18% more range versus normal summer temperature (~12°C) and 30% more than winter on the same route.

Everybody immediately leaves work if it passes 20°C as it usually only happens a few days every summer - and I've experienced summers that never reached it even... Preconditioning is a requirement for EVs around here to be honest.
