Good idea!Using an Ancel BA101 battery tester……….
Now, the health of my 2024 Maverick, that’s another story! Bill P
I never worry about it, only really slightly interested, it’s the LVB paranoiacs that make me smile frequently checking, posting, conditioning, flapping, changing at or around 3yrs for no good reason etc etc!The irony of worrying about the longevity of a $200 battery while we all also have a $30,000 one.
The Snap-On reads 80% and well into “Good Battery” SoH area on gauge so OK for a good while longer.October ‘21, build date……48 months….., health is still showing 100%, however, I do have a new battery ready to go, when the need arises…… Bill P
I would do it. It's time now that you got a warning, even if it's unreliable.21 FE, about 49K miles. Original battery.
I received a "Check 12-Volt Battery" message in September. Was finally able to get to the dealer today and they said the battery is "totally fine" and that the message in the app is "not reliable".
Now, I am not sure what to do. Just wait for the battery to fail if the app is not reliable?
I would change it. Think of this as a preventative maintenance item, like your furnace filter. You don’t typically wait till it’s completely clogged before changing it. We know what’s going to happen to all batteries, so it’s not whether, it’s when to change it.21 FE, about 49K miles. Original battery.

I replaced the battery today. About 50k miles. Just out of fear.21 FE, about 49K miles. Original battery.

It could be a one-million-dollar car, yet it is not stronger than its weakest critical component. In our case (as many stories have illustrated), it just dies without warning at the worst possible times. As a family man these days, everything becomes complicated if things go south all of a sudden. Try living in a really cold country with babies and toddlers who can suddenly be in a life-threatening situation because of a less-than-ideal 12V-monitoring system. It’s not great, hence why I at least worry about it.The irony of worrying about the longevity of a $200 battery while we all also have a $30,000 one.
