In December, I received the OTA APIM update (23-PU1103-NAT-VCE) that pushed me to Revision: 1049 (Version 23291).

When I go to PTS, I can see the OTA was successful under "Connected Services->OTA Dashboard".

However, also in PTS, when I go to Diagnostics->SYNC, it still shows me having SYNC V4.0.23031 with Install Date being in Aug (when my APIM was replaced) and Install Source being ETIS.
I would have expected PTS to show that I have SYNC V4.0.23291, installed in December, with Install Source being OTA (my friend's MME shows this info).

Does anyone in the know have any idea why PTS isn't aware of my updated SYNC version? And most importantly, does it matter?

I never look at the SYNC page, I don't think that updates unless IDS/FDRS was used for programming. So it doesn't matter. That page was designed primarily for SYNC 2/3 vehicles.

Instead, just look at the vehicle software page to determine if things are updated or not.

Thanks @Mach-Lee . Even the Vehicle Software Page shows the old version: NU5T-14G676-EC while the OTA updated it to PU5T-14G676-CC (this is the version that shows up in the PTS OTA screen, and in my car's Diagnostics interface)

What’s a PTS?
Ford's diagnostics interface. You can buy a license to get access to the system, and get some more data about your car, which is a double edged sword for OCD people like myself...

In that case, pull fuse #21 or disconnect the 12V battery for 10 minutes. Drive the car a couple times afterwards and see if it updates.

I'll give that a try, but I don't think that's it. I do see up-to-date connected vehicle data being reported in PTS, so the car is talking to the cloud.

Yes, but the GWM needs to re-poll all the module versions. That only happens periodically. 12V disconnect forces a refresh.

I did the 12v reset. So far no improvement in PTS on the SW front, but I can confirm that the car did talk to PTS again, because it reported a DTC in ABS (Improper wakeup performance). I assume that's related to the 12v reset.

PTS shows the sync version, but not the rev version. It is possible for the Sync page to appear blank after an update for a while until the vehicle syncs up with the servers. To the right of where it shows the Sync version, there is an "install source" field that will say OTA or ETIS if the Sync software was installed with FDRS. I can tell you with certainty that the install source field can be wrong. I have seen cases where Sync was update via OTA and it will say ETIS and vice versa.

I check the Sync tab when I do VIN checks because it is the easiest way to see if a vehicle has had an APIM swap. It will show multiple serial numbers and the date the new APIM was installed. It makes it much easier to then navigate to the specific date in vehicle history and make sure the APIM was properly programmed at the dealer level. Many job 1 owners owners stuck on the broken 2020 software will report that their Sync screen doesn't have a Sync version on it, and 100% of the time, the Sync tab will show the vehicle is on Sync 20262/20301.

For me it's been over a month since my successful OTA that updated my SYNC, and the SYNC page still shows the stale info for the VIP.
The last recorded HW Part number is correct (that is the APIM that was put in August, after 2 previous APIMs were replaced).
- 1st one was freezing on startup
- 2nd one they configured wrong (or something) and none of my connected navigation features worked.

I don't use the Sync tab to check those things. I click the module in FDRS and look at the location to verify the file. That is always accurate.

Ah I don't have access to fdrs

However I do have confirmation from the diagnostics screen that the updated version is in my car

The 12v reset didn't cause the car to updates. However a user reached out and was somehow able to update my APIM state in the system to reflect the latest version.

The consequence of that is that immediately after that the TCU update got unblocked and now my car is downloading 6.3.0.

For some reason when my car got 6.2.1 it never phones back with the latest APIM version. But it does actually seem to matter . Not sure what's wrong with my car...
