So, we've had our MME for three weeks now. As far as I can tell all the wireless charging matt does he heat up my phone; the actual charge goes down rather than up as it can't even keep up with the use of Android Auto. This is with my Pixel 6. Is this the way they all are eor is something wrong with mine?

Same here. I've had this experience in multiple EVs so it may not be limited to our MME.

I found the wireless charging very slow. Plus I kept forgetting my phone was there. I added a wired charging dock. It also connects android auto when it fails wireless sometimes.

I bought that aftermarket one and besides a couple little pouches for putting change and some other stuff in or scanner. It seems to charge really well not the fastest but it does keep it charged and connected it.

mat...

Yes, the wireless charging doesn't keep up with some usage, and AA is one of them. I always plug in my Pixel 6A.

In my 2021 it just never worked, now in my 2023 it made my phone so hot that it shut down and of course dropped my CarPlay while I was navigating a critical part of my route. Now I just plug it in if my charge is low.

My S22+ will get hot in my holster with just AA, GMaps, and a media player in action without being on the charging mat. So I rarely use the wireless charging as it exacerbates the problem. If I'm going to be driving for a couple of hours I'll connect to the USB-C port to keep the phone charged up, or will use the mat if I'm really down on phone battery as a low efficiency convenience. The replacement mat that came as a thanks for having my HVBJB service did not seem to make much of a difference in all ways related. I maintain low expectations with wireless charging going forward.

It’s a known issue. Lots of posts around with solutions. It’s not specific to the Mach E or Ford. I have an iPhone. My solution was the TWRAPS MagSafe dual charger. The QI charger built in doesn’t like thick cases, or camera bumps as they increase the distance between the wireless charger components.

without a firm/fixed positioning of the phone over the induction coils it acts mostly as a phone heater. since pixel 6's run hot already i'd consider plugging in instead. i put a 3"x6" piece of aluminum foil under the matt over the charger so it doesn't try to charge while in that front tray.

If you want to keep wireless charging, get a Magsafe case for your phone and the TWRAPS charging mat replacement. Got that combo for my Motorola Edge 2023 (Android 13). It still heats a little during road trips, but not enough to shut down.

The stock wireless chargers are garbage. My wife has a Toyota Highlander and the wireless charger in that is even worse than the MME.

The answer is always Twraps. It has not one, but two chargers, so a passenger can also charge their phone (or you can charge two if you have both a personal and a work phone). Fits nicely into the space vacated by the rubber mat. Has a ledge for a camera bump to hang down into so the phone still lays flat against the charger. In conjunction with a MagSafe case, it keeps the phone aligned perfectly with the charging coils so that the electricity goes into the phone’s battery instead of into cooking the phone. Corner as hard as you want. Unless your phone is super heavy, it’ll stay where you want it.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

I have an iPhone. My solution was the TWRAPS MagSafe dual charger.
I was surprised that a car that I bought in 11/2023 was not MagSafe already. It took me a while to realise that I had to carefully position the iPhone against the bump stop at the bottom, and that it was only the rubber that was holding it in place.

I might have to break down and buy the Twrap. Something that was stopping me is that it doesn't look OEM, and it has that cord you have to plug in.

But driving around a couple of days ago, I realised I wouldn't even see the cord from the driver's seat, and who cares what the people in the back see. :)

If you are satisfied with the slower Qi charging speeds, all we really need is a provision for the camera bump.

But here I go today, wasting another 99.00 on yet another charging device. LOL....

Somehow I've ended up with three 240 volt chargers.

I think people are just using it wrong.

It’s not a “phone charger.” It’s a “phone warmer.” Will keep your phone nice and toasty on a cold day! ?

Only way I got mine to work well is taking the charging mat off or removing my phone case. It doesn’t seem to charge well through two insulators.

Another vote for the TWRAPS dual charging pad. Probably one of the best accessories I've bought for my car
