Ford says the vast majority of owners can expect the Supercharger OTA before you receive your adapter. So… between now and sometime this summer maybe.

I love my MachE, but Ford’s OTA process is painful. And not just for this update, but 6.x, the priority updates, blue cruise, etc… If an update has been approved and beta tested, it should be available for install at the owner’s discretion. I certainly hope the next gen vehicles have a different OTA experience.

I received the Supercharger OTA on March 4, which I was fairly impressed with. Seemed pretty well aligned with the whole adapter reservation process that became available less than a week before. I'm not in EA or anything, and hadn't received any other OTAs in the previous several weeks.

In general I'm pretty critical of Ford's software capabilities, but this one impressed me. If I had been a betting man when they originally announced Supercharger access last year, I would have put money on NO Supercharger access until later this year or even next year. Granted, I haven't received my adapter yet, but it feels like a rare promise that Ford actually delivered on.

one key point i noted: the OTA update is not required for compatibility with the supercharger; it enables the plug&charge capability.

so, if you have an adapter if you can enable charging sessions via the tesla app it will work similar to the magic dock without the OTA update.

Correct. You can also enable via Charge Assist.

Correct for those who car did not miss the Charge Assist update. Bc apparently, with Ford’s software updates, if your car misses an update like the Charge Assist update you maybe out of look in regards to getting that update.

And that’s the point of this thread. Ford’s OTA process is terrible.

Got the Tesla update, still waiting on 6.13 and 7 for BC 1.4. I'm guessing they're rolling that out slowly since it failed pretty often with the camera update.

I’m tired of glitches. Test before sending out updates

I’m happy about Ford OTA. It’s not great, but it’s much better than most. Besides Tesla, is there any brand whose OTA competency is better than Ford?

My Mach E is job 1. So far I have received 6.8 and Tesla P&C update. In the past, I have done FDRS twice (enable BC and new Sync UI) with help from fellow forum members.

I got it the other day and it installed successfully last night. Compared to previously announced things this was lightning fast (no pun intended).

I’d love to try it but there are no magic docks near me and the adapters won’t arrive for a while so oh well.

So in this one case I’m pretty happy. Things seem to be getting a bit better.

Now back to waiting for BC 1.4 and my adapter to ship.

I just wish that Ford with give more details on what the update actually does. Last week I got an update with the usual message that this update will improve the installation of updates. On Tuesday morning I got another update 24-PU0102-CHG-SUFX. This update appears to be part 1 of 3. I was charging overnight and charging apparently stopped after this update applied so I only got charged to 75%. Charging worked OK the following night. The update is supposed to improve charging but I have no idea how or what else will change.

They do. That doesn’t mean things don’t slip through cracks. When you compare the number of consumer vehicles with what they have to test it makes sense that new bugs will pop up at scale especially when you consider the anrchitecture of machEs. And often the issues aren’t with the updates but thr OTA process itself which is likely much harder to verify thoroughly due to the sheer number of variables in updating a car remotely.
