These are thoughts that occurred to me as I sat in my MME GT PE 25 hours after signing the lease, which was 2 weeks ago now.
1) The sound system sucks. I was expecting, certainly hoping, for it to be significantly better than the one in my 2015 Mazda but, alas, that doesn't seem (sound?) to be the case. We'll see after I've had time to fiddle with it.
2) Velocity Blue Metallic looks better than I thought it would.
2) The air conditioner might be adequate but I'm disappointed in it so far.
3) Propulsion sound - I thought this was ridiculous, hokey at best, when viewing videos and discussions in forums. I still do but I tried it out just for the heck of it. In Whisper and Engage modes I cannot hear it at all. In Unbridled I can hear it only if I really put my foot into it.
3) I love one pedal driving; I knew I would when I test drove a couple. I come from more than 60 years of driving manual shift vehicles and have always disliked automatics. One pedal driving gives me even more control than a manual.
4) One pedal driving does not universally replace braking. I learned that almost the hard way by nearly re-ending a guy who had slowed unexpectedly while turning onto an Interstate on-ramp. Learning to judge stopping power and distances, since they are infinitely variable based on pressure on the accelerator pedal, will take some time but should be fun.
5) I've seen lots of questions regarding one pedal driving and brake lights. My wife drove behind me when leaving the dealership and she assured me the brake lights do come on.
6) Concerning the "shift lever" on the column: The first car I drove had a 3 speed on the column. Pull and up for reverse, pull and down for 1st, in the middle for neutral. Well, look at that. Except that there's only 1 forward gear the pattern's the same. So, yeah, I have no problem with it.
7) Headlight control location is awkward but I'll get used to it. Wiper controls seem indecipherable at first glance.
8) Charging from 110V outlet is painfully slow. I'm hoping I can easily adapt the 240V outlet used previously for an RV. It's on a 50 amp circuit breaker with 6 gauge wire and ground wire is attached to ground so I'm hopeful. If it does I will not need the unit that's supposed to be installed as part of Ford's Power Promise. I didn't realize the mobile power cord had the 240V capability: that's on me, of course.
9) Unbridled mode is a whale of a lot of fun. I will use it sparingly but use it I will.
10) I strongly disliked the glass roof for what should be an obvious reason. In fact, the first MME I was going to pick up came in to the dealer with a cracked roof. The vehicle is in desperate need of a traditional sunroof that can be opened for better ventilation.
11) Using the touch screen is not nearly as difficult as I expected. A bit of a learning curve but nothing dramatic.
12) Even my wife likes the seats!
13) I'm hoping I can connect my phone (Android) and/or iPad to the sound system to play my own set lists without having to upload all my contacts and so on or get another Sirius/XM subscription.
14) I feel very disconnected from the road in this thing. Steering is way too loose, easy, I'm not sure what the right word is but there is no road feel at all through the steering wheel. It's disconcerting for a vehicle of such high performance, although my Mazda has the same problem, though not as severe.
15) I have to put the steering wheel too high for my driving position to see the dash behind it.
16) I don't know if I like that it moves the seat back when I shut the car off and moves it forward when I start it up. I figure it's likely configurable and just one more thing to figure out.
17) I'm concerned about parking on a hill. I know it's got a parking brake lever and I'm going to have to learn how to use it.
Overall I'm happy with the vehicle and I look forward to some adventurous trips with it.
