On a 65 mile trip today, the cruise control repeatedly reset my speed from 75 to 85 MPH. I was no where near the lever that changes speed. The blue cruise was also acting up. One time it disconnected and said "operator disconnected" or something like that. Another issue I had on this trip is (after upgrading iPhone to OS 26), the navigation wouldn't let me choose the shortest (quickest) route. It was "greyed" out. The longer routes were the only ones that I was able to pick from. Not a big deal since I only needed directions for the beginning of the trip. The rest of the way I could manage without the navigation. Strange happenings.

So, the speed issue is probably related to speed control in the adaptive cruise control settings (?). There is a setting where the car can read the speed signs and adjust the car’s speed automatically. You can select a buffer like +10. So if the car sees 75, it adjusts the speed to 85. It also has an internal database of speeds so that sometimes it adjusts speeds based on that which doesn’t necessarily agree with the signs.

As far as the route selection goes, it may be a setting like ā€œavoid toll roadsā€ or ā€avoid non-paved roads.ā€ There’s a tool icon at the bottom left of the map that you can tap and select various things. Or, it could just be a glitchšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø.

Wait the car actually sees the signs? I always thought it was just following what is programmed into it which explains why it will change speeds even when there are no signs around

Yes, it's called "Speed Sign Recognition" and is part of the Predictive Speed function under "Driver Assistance." It will adjust your speed setting according to the speed limit, taking into account your tolerance settings.

Uses both.

Nope. Shut that off in my first Mach E snd also with this one. Even so, have you seen sn 85MPH speed sign anywhere? Maybe in the rocky mountain states but not in the east coast. This is a glitch in my car.

If the tolerance setting is at 10 mph in predictive speed, the car will set the cruise to 85 in a 75 mph zone. I have my tolerance set to 6 mph, assuming most cops won't bother you for that little bit of speeding. BTW - Wyoming has 85 mph limits on the interstates. The faster you're through Wyoming, the better.

There are a couple of spots on highway 101 between Gilroy and Santa Maria where our mustang decides to gallop to 85mph. It's not just you!

Montana is now capped at 80. There are a couple spots in Texas with 85.

It can read signs wrong, and if the sign is old or faded can get the sign wrong. Either way make sure that is turned off. Not a glitch of your car, its all our cars can read them wrong.

You mention IOS 26 and then ā€œthe navā€ which nav are referring to. The Ford nav has nothing to do with IOS 26. If its in carplay which nav are your referring to?

BC would turn off it went to 85mph it’s limited to 80mph. Can also turn off if you accicdently hit the brake, the button on the steering wheel, a tight turn, direct sun, many reasons.

Again, its turned off. And you are saying it can read the sign wrong 4X in a half an hour? Please, it is definitely a glitch. You are insulting my intelligence. I've been driving the Mach E for 4 years and know all the settings. And yes, I know that CarPlay is controlling "the nav". Wow. And the cruise control was setting itself to 85 mph, REPEATEDLY . You are really annoying. Wow. Thanks

No, I had the car set to 75mph. The car changed it to 85. Nothing to do with the tolerance. Not the speed the car was going. I was driving on a busy part of I 95 in the north east. If anyone knows the area I'm talking about, they would understand how absurd it would be to allow the car to change the speed that the driver set like that. I shut the CC off when I felt it accelerating and saw the speed had been set to 85. Had to reset it every time. Happened probably 4 times in less than 1/2 hour. Not the tolerance setting. Not misreading the signs. I shut down the sign reading ability in 2021 with the first car when I experienced a sudden acceleration when it read a speed sign in my 2021 Mach E. One of the first settings I changed (or checked) when I upgraded to the 2023 GTPE was the sign reading. It should be OFF when delivered and only turned on by the owner. It is a dangerous feature in the car that isn't explained by any sales person ( I'm assuming) and can potentially cause an accident. I would never want any car of mine to change any setting without my permission when it comes to that type of control. That's supposed to be a convenience? Hardly.

.
Have you taken it to the dealer?
Or some how reported it to Ford?

This is a forum of users, so naturally they are just going to throw out theories of what might have happened.

I haven’t been on this forum for too long and I haven’t searched this forum for this problem, but I suspect this is very rare, and maybe never been reported on here. If that is the case then I personally would suspect something wrong with you car instead of a general firmware issue.

Nobody is trying to insult your intelligence. You’ve posted a question to which you donā€t have the answer to a group of others with a vast amount of experience with the issue you’re having a problem with. You need help and we’re offering it.
So here’s another idea to which I hope you don’t take offense. Have you actually checked that setting since you posted the question? I’m sure you’ve seen others post about how settings sometimes reset themselves after OTA updates. Maybe that’s what happened? I honestly can’t think of anything else that would change the car’s set speed from 75 to 85 with no intervention other than speed sign recognition, well other than tapping the ā€œcancel/resumeā€ toggle while going 85, but you would have had to accelerate to 85 with your foot to get there.
