Nope, just like I haven't considered driving my convertible in winter with the roof down. ?

There's a guy in metro Detroit who has a blue Mazda Miata convertible...he drives with the top down through the winter. I've spotted him on the highway a couple of times in January driving (top down) at 75 mph, with temps below 20 degrees F. I know I have a picture somewhere...I'll post if I can find it.

Can you cite a single of your 1,000s of article as well. Also one real world test that showed a 200 mile range in a model y with sub-zero temperatures?

Bearded Tesla Guy just dropped a video he was driving in 20 degree weather and got around 202 miles.

But is it truly as efficient as the heat pump in a Model Y? I was expecting the MPGE to be better than the MY and the real world numbers are disappointing with such a big battery.

If he got 202 miles in those kind of temps it means in sub zero temps it would get less say 150 which is being super pessimistic. That means still better than Mach E from the GOM pictures I uploaded earlier.

Battery conditioning uses minimal amounts of energy compared to charging. But I keep my EVs plugged in in colder weather( I have my EVs in a garage, so not critical). My theory is not to use the EV battery for this.
The conditioning is not continual. It is periodic as needed. And you have to listen hard and close ( unless you are a 5 year old male with that excellent hearing [those were the days!]) to even hear it.
Unfortunately not everyone has a garage, but if you do have one, you should consider making a place for your MME in it during the cold and hot of it. Perhaps a bit more insulation.
Range (currently) will always be affect by temperature. Cold weather affects range (negatively) more. Electrons prefer to be comfortable. Recall your science lessons about temperature and molecule/electron movement. Warmer, not hot, weather will see longer ranges. My Bolt has ranges of 270+ in summer and around 238 in winter.

Winter now - have Bolt set at 90%, charges to 225mi. (20s for low) which is about range when set at 100% and temperature is in the teens or single digits. We use heated seats and steering wheel as often as possible. AC use, winter or summer, always impacts range.
Since the MMEs software only permits you to use 90% of capacity, 100 = 90, then 0 = 10% remaining? Theoretically ~20 more miles of range. I doubt they would prohibit that energy from being used. Or?

Lmfao how the hell you get 238 miles on your bolt. I live in NJ and I have a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt Premier and in the winter I get at most 150 miles at 100% battery.

Since you state this as fact, I eagerly await your post on the specific trim of the Tesla MY you took on your 200 mile trip "in these temps", as well as general location and weather details.

Really torn on whether to feed the under-bridge dwellers, but....?

Are any of the cold weather range issues happening to someone that has owned a BEV before in cold weather? Or are these a couple of newbies? I'm not trying to throw shade at any new MME owners, just troubleshooting.

Yep. Some people are going to realize a new-found respect for ICE vehicles in the cold.

Part of why we'll continue to have one of each in our garage. Best of both that way.

Hmmmm..... my Mach E is supposed to be my 2 nd EV. I am going fully electric.
I am in Canada and it gets into sub zero temps here often enough. So I am either brave or overly optimistic.
I figure that I am not doing many road trips when it is that cold anyway and our charging network is pretty good in my area. The issue is not range but rather availability of charging stations.
We are the early adopters, but things will improve ! I see a huge difference here within last 2-3 years.

This is the reason why I am getting the Model Y with heat pump!
