I took it in today and gave them a printout of the TSB and they did it. It took them 2.5 hours but I’m just glad i didn’t have to leave my mach e there.

If you have had the rear lights re-sealed and still have the issue mine was solved by re-sealing the rear Pony badge as it is not a stick on badge it is held in place with two pins in to the hatch, which is where the rain was getting in on mine after the lights were sealed twice. Ask them to do the badge at the same time while they have that inside panel off.

Thanks for the info! If the leak persists I’ll have to take it back and recommend that.

If you have water dripping out through the close button, latch, or handle when you open the liftgate after a rain or car wash, you might want this TSB done. Covers all Mach-E's built before Sept 29 2023.

NOTE: Water near the license plate lamps and center open button is normal since this area is always outside the vehicle. Look for water coming out of the areas that are on the interior side of the gasket as shown here:

Water can leak in around the back of the rear tail lights on some vehicles due to poor sealing. This is an inside view of tailgate below the tail light showing evidence of water intrusion near the opening for the electrical connector:

This TSB will address the leaks by adding additional sealing material around the rear taillight openings.

Note: I've also heard of water leaks in other areas of the tailgate, such as around the openings the rear spoiler clips into. Which would be a different fix not covered by this TSB.

Just took mine in due to this issue and they said it isn’t covered due to not being under basic warranty as I am over .36,000. I have extended warranty but they said it’s not covered. This is clearly a design flaw and not due to wear and tear. So disappointing.

My dealer charged me less than $200 to seal it out of warranty. I want to say it was like $160, but it was definitely less than $200 because that's my extended deductible.
I bought my Mach E just before it's 3rd birthday, but didn't notice it until after.

It is clearly covered under a Ford ESP:

Message me some details (dealer, dates, etc.) and I'll run it up on my end. Happy to help.
Hi @Ford Motor Company
The dealer is Bill Brandt Ford in Brentwood. They have been great with all of my services, but I was surprised to hear that they said it isn't covered. Bought the car new 12/29/2022. It’s a 2023. I have extended warranty and did mention about the extended warranty but they said it doesn’t cover leaks. Appreciate any support with understanding why it wouldn’t be covered. Thanks, Julia

Mine has some water in one of the innermost tail light. I also hear water draining in the tailgate when I open it. Not to the inside but it runs out along the sides. Mine is a 2024 With 12k so will the dealer cover the fix being it is not covered by the tech bulletin? I was going to address it when I get the tires rotated.

I ask my dealer to look at it. I have had my Mach E for 4 1/2 years. They say since I got rear ended about 3 years ago they can not do the fix till after they open the back end to verify that is the issue and even if they do verify it is TSB23-2360 part of the issue they are still going to charge me since it out of warranty. It will cost me $600 just to look at the issue plus cost to repair it.

Thank god I have a garage to park in so I'm not too worry about it. (FYI I live in Michigan and we just set a record for cold temps. I will look at it this spring myself, Does anyone know how wide of butyl sealant tape I will need? 1.88 in, 3 in, 4 in.....?)

Thank you for posting this @Mach-Lee
I took my car in today for this issue and by giving the dealer the TSB # helped to make them understand the issue clearly. They did the repair in a couple hours, no cost. I will be sure to do quality control during the next rainstorms, before the warranty is up.

Depressing that you as a customer need to educate a dealer on TSBs for them to solve the problem. Tells you a lot about how terrible the dealer network is.
