Day 4 part 2: Dead battery!
Didn't drive Marlin Saturday but I had been in the car several times to check and set features throughout the day. Marlin was plugged in to charge some of the time. I had taken him off charge to access features that required the car to be started. He had been unplugged for several hours
Oh wait - car cant be started when charging cord plugged in? I guess it makes sense. But after reading all these threads - I was planning to do all setups while charging to avoid issues with low battery.

Yes it can: Everything fires up but the dash says "unplug me" kind of message.

This is how I go play with the big panel LOL. Start the car in the garage plugged in. That way all the power the HVAC is using comes from the wall instead of the battery.

Oops. I must have seen the unplug me message and thought it was like our Leaf, which won't do a full start while plugged in.

Day 5: A better day

With Marlin working fine again, I made my trip to Rocket Frog Brewery to pick up the beer and chocolate treat for Valentines Day. 80 mile R/T. Met @Rafgar and @BK2EV.

Ford Mustang Mach-E My Travels With Marlin (GB FE) Screen Shot 2021-02-14 at 4.30.55 PM

Since @BK2EV is still awaiting delivery, he took the pictures of the two blue beauties and their drivers.

On the way out I took the Dulles Toll Road. I'm still waiting to see if my EZ Pass works or will suffer the same issues others are encountering (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ez-pass-transponder-interference.3463/). I see in the picture @Rafgar and I placed our transponders in the exact same place.

On the way back I took the winding route on Georgetown Pike and tried to find good photo opportunities at Great Falls National Park.

Unfortunately, most of the snow was gone and the parking lots are not very photogenic in the winter. There were also too many cars on the Pike to really enjoy the curves. I did, however, test the brakes when a deer jumped across the road in front of me!

No, I haven't forgotten about the LVB issue. So the last stop of the day was to drop Marlin off at Koons Ford for system diagnostics (discussed in the LVB thread at https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/dead-low-voltage-battery-lvb.3490/).

I don't know why, but I feel like 10 seconds after the last picture was taken, it transformed Transformer style. That's obviously a robot in disguise. I didn't have a car name picked out, but I think I'm going Barricade.

What have by-stander reactions been in my first few days with Marlin? I have yet to run into anyone on the street who objected to the Mach E being called a Mustang. I'm sure I will. However, Ford has a real winner here.

What I have seen have been eye's lighting up when people saw it. When @Rafgar and I had ours side-by-side in Sterling an man drove by us, turned around came back and asked if the cars were those new electric Mustangs. Driving back from Sterling I had people turning to stare and photographing Marlin in a parking lot as I drove through. People have photographed Marlin and taken video at stoplights and while driving down the freeway. The gal at my detailing shop was excited Marlin was coming in because she's wanted to see a Mach E for months.

The biggest reactions were at the funeral home last Thursday, my first stop with the Mach E. First, the gentlemen organizing car parking came right over to find out what I was driving. But then, I met a gal working in the funeral home who was the most thrilled of all. This 20-something has never owned a non-Mustang. She grew up in a Mustang family and is on her second. She thought the Mach E was absolutely spectacular and thrilled Ford is making it and that I brought it. I kid you not -- her name is Shelby.

The Mach-E (especially in the bright colors) is definitely an attention getter. I have had many people ask "what is that?" or come back for a second look. I normally park away from other vehicles in parking lots. I have seen several people drive out to where I'm parked and stop to look at the car.

Good story about Shelby - that's a serious Ford family. I have a good friend who named his daughter Senna. She's not driving age yet, but if she's anything like her father, she will be a good driver.

EVERYWHERE I stop I get questioned. At target A dad in his forties said that the saw the mustang symbol but it was not a mustang that he ever heard of. I explained it to him and he was like wow....really nice..FE Grabber blue

Target again this time a kid in his late 20's early 30's who owns a high performance Tesla 3. He came up to me and asked if it was my car and then went on about how excieted he was to see it i person he had only seen pictures. He loved it. We exchange dphoen numbers and are planning when things get back to something normal of doing a 4 hour road trip up to Monterey to go whale watching.

Went to dinner on Valentines day night and a bunch of uber/lift/door dash guys were taking pictures. I could tell because it was on their screens as they entered the restaurant.

i went to get my second covid shot and this guy in a Prius electric plug in hybrid asked me about the car and then wanted to know how much. His tone was kind of not positive but not negative and then he asked me the question that I HATE. How much was it and what are the costs of the options. I answered simply. You cannot get this car. It was sold out in 3 days over a year ago. I then told him to go to the website and check it out himself. My irritation came form him saying I have a bunch of friends at the dealer where I bought mine but he had a Prius. Not my kind of friend

Asking strangers how much things cost is never good etiquette in my book. Go online and find out. This happens with tattoos all the time.

EXACTLY...what is funny is that there he is in a Toyota saying how great friends he is with the guys at Ford. If that is the case then WHY are you driving a Prius??? However now the guy with the Tesla was soooo great. He said sure he had more HP etc., but he liked both the styling inside and outside of the MME much much more. He also said that the videos and pictures on line did it ZERO justice. He felt tech wise there was not that big a difference. Actually he stressed USEFULL tech was about the same. The gimmick stuff was whatever like the party stuff of doors and lights or the horn changing sounds with the latest OTA. He asked if I minded if he took pictures both inside and out. I said sure....
he NEVER asked price but did ask what the technical name of the blue was and wondered about other bright colors. he felt that the color gave the car the TOTAL WOW factor.

After driving it on the highway and around town I decided to charge it up. It added 131 miles at a cost of $6.45. WOW. That would have been around $35 in my ice car..
At California prices that should get you 10 gallons. What were you driving that gets 13 mpg?
