• In some instances after this update, a "Service vehicle soon" wrench icon may appear in your instrument cluster and will remain visible until you dismiss it by pressing the "OK" button on your steering wheel, or it will clear automatically with the next ignition cycle. You may also receive a Ford App notification indicating service is needed on the vehicle, which you can disregard. Please be assured this is a visual notification only and does not indicate any functional impact on your vehicle.

So the update/improvement is you'll receive a bunch of nuisance messages that may or may not be applicable. You get to decide if the message you are receiving is real or not. Call for a mobile service appt every time you get it. Maybe they'll get the point that "improvements" should actually improve the ownership experience.

So I’ve been wondering why they wouldn’t just add this? Is there some risk involved with preconditioning when you don’t need it or too often? Or are they trying to keep it behind the paywall?

They also can’t add a trunk button to the top of the Home Screen. Which seems even easier. There’s a lotta things Ford could do.

Disconnecting my phone has never helped. I’ve always had to reboot the phone, of which I reboot sync as well when I do it (not sure if sync reboot helps as much as the phone reboot though). I have the software installed as of today if it finished earlier today.

I’d love if it did help, but I’m guessing it is more for SXM that we don’t use.

I’ve had the issue a number of times. I disconnect the phone on the Ford phone list by clicking the CarPlay icon. After a few seconds, I’ll reconnect using the same icon and it has always worked.

I had problems with CarPlay not connecting. I set up a Shortcut "when CarPlay connects Play Music," which resumes the song/playlist in Apple Music. Try a Shortcut to whatever App you want to start first.

I wonder if this will help with the 1-2 min SiriusXM "Updating" that often happens when I start the car. It prevents me from changing the station or seeing song information until it clears. Never had this issue on any other SiriusXM equipped vehicle, going back to 2005

Drives me crazzzzy. WTF does Sirius need to update every day?

Hard to say, but funnily enough - their latest model, Capri, can manually precondition. Maybe Ford think of Mach E drivers like this:

Reprogram your phone. I have a 2025 and the phone works fine without the key fob.

I have the same issue in my 21. Half the time I start up it will go through the updating dance and then tune to channel 1 blathering about signing up for Sirius. I have to switch to another station for it recognize my subscription and then play music.

Anyone know what this actually does?

I did not know I got an update yesterday, and randomly while listening to an audiobook over CarPlay, when I pulled to a stoplight the entire sync system crashed.

Best guess based on the notes, some kind of song buffer optimization. XM stores 4-8 songs you can "skip" between which is actually a buffer/store of what it's received so far. I'm guessing they either optimized how it stores this buffer, or if I'm being hopeful, do some kind of defragment/trim to the storage medium.

Highly doubt they did any additional changes, or they would have included it in the notes. This seems to only help if you subscribe to XM.

FYI for those who want to do this DYI, I installed this via FDRS on a 2023 and it did a complete user data wipe. All settings like user profiles, vehicle and lighting settings, connected phones, etc was erased. Not sure how they got away without doing it OTA but it seems the process for “disk space optimizations” is different when done via FDRS.
