did you just ask for SB02 ?
can it be applied off the lot if they miss it?

asking because i'll be taking delivery this week, and I'd like to be able to check whether the update has been applied
The dealer will see whether it is applicable to your VIN at delivery.

So, the latest update on Marlin.

They didn't end up moving him up to Frederick Monday after all. We had icy roads and a bit more snow Monday morning. While the Mach E can handle those roads, they decided not to risk the other DC-area drivers (who are notoriously bad in winter weather). Besides, they were able to reproduce the error, so the FSE just worked at Koons the last two days. They checked for other bad components and bad connections and through two days of extensive diagnostics they finally determined the issue is a bad connection within the Rear Electric Drive Assembly.

The good news is my LVB seems to be holding just fine!

A new one has been emergency ordered and should be delivered here from Dearborn tomorrow ?

With any luck Marlin will be out of the shop Friday and we'll be able to take our road trip as planned. ?

Unfortunately, PPF and ceramic will have to wait until we get back.

Yes fingers crossed for you. Unfortunately you won't get the expected "shake down" drives in before your trip but you seem to be up for the task.

Yikes. Wonder if that’ll be a while rear motor? But good news to be nearing the fix.

Yes, that is a bit of a concern. Oh well!

Yes, its a whole new rear motor (drive unit).

hope they get Marlin back to you ASAP. I’m sure Ford will do right by you.

That being said and all things being equal what are the advantages of an EVSE as compared to the mobile charger plugged into a 240v outlet other than a faster charge rate? Charging can be controlled from the vehicle menus and the vehicle also monitors lvb battery condition and charges when needed either from being plugged in or from hvb. Again I know the issues are concerning, but normal vehicle operations should basically be a plug and play whether from an EVSE, 240 or 120 v outlet, correct?
The mobile ‘charger’ is an EVSE. The charger is on board the car. Having an EVSE permanently or semi-permanently installed at home (or work) allows you to keep the mobile EVSE in the car to have with you at all times.

Wow. How interesting! That diagnosis makes no sense to me, looking in from the outside, with the limited information I saw from your descriptions. I guess something was intermittently shorting out on the motor housing? But, I trust them to figure it out. Your patience is outstanding. I hope you get it back asap (and with a new motor, woohoo).

He shakes down like a boss!
Took that thing out for an 80 mile jaunt right after waking it from the dead when the LVB went flat.

Driving it down to Florida right after the IDM is replaced only makes sense. :)

It's not a personal attack. My point was, using the the car schedule or evse in a way to just keep the 12volt battery charge is ridiculous when the car should be taking care of it.

BTW, do you really think that message is saying, you better plug in during cold temperatures or you'll be stranded?
I did not feel attacked.

My points included:

It isn’t just to keep the 12v charged, but when already plugged in why not allow the car to charge the 12v as it deems necessary. Don’t allow the EVSE to deny a request for the small amount of current to top off the 12v because you want to fill the HVB with off peak kWhs. Use the car to time the HVB charging.

No I did not believe or suggest charging as you say you will would leave one stranded. Will one have less energy in the HVB if the HVB is used to charge the 12v? Yes. If one parks unplugged for many days will there be even less energy in the HVB? Yes. When it becomes a concern is for each of us to decide. I think it is helpful that the car will remind me.

I can't tell you how much I'm really pulling for you and Marlin Mark, you're little Marlin adventures would have worn down most by now. Your neutral and factual posts are exceptionally written and provide a real good synopsis of everything going on. It's a shame something like this happened, hopefully he is sprung from captivity soon!
