I got the email too.

I have been an associate member for well over a year. I just emailed asking about an upgrade and will be glad to do that.

What is all the talk about a pin #? I had no idea about any of that. I just thought I had to show my membership card at purchase time. I did talk about X-Plan with my dealer and was told they accept it.

If there is an additional requirement, can you please share it with me, so I can do it right now.

Thanks.

Jim
Go on the membership benefits page and look for the XPlan link. If you follow it, you'll find where you can generate a PIN that is used when you buy the vehicle.

My dealer had said to me at the time that they felt x-plan from Mustang Club of America was being gamed with Mach-E orders because lots of people were just signing up not long before taking delivery as opposed to being bona fide MCA members, but they gave me no hassle in using it.

I wonder if this change is a result of dealers protesting. Anyway I hope they make the switch in a way where no one currently in the middle of that 60 day period gets left holding the bag if it is 90 days now.

I don't know why the dealers would protest. X-plan costs them nothing.

Beats me, especially with Mach-E customer orders, no chance at mark up at this particular dealership. Maybe they do end up losing some money some other way? But they didn’t seem as indifferent to MCA X-Plan compared to this new state program by California where the dealer takes $1,500 off sticker for the customer and the state pays the dealer the difference, they had no issue with that state program at all. Maybe just loyalty to Ford then.

It does if they might have gotten more for the car by marking it up. They can't with X-Plan.

Are you sure? I don't know if that money is refunded by Ford. Or if it is, it's probably a hassle that otherwise cuts into their profits.

My original statement is not 100% correct. X-plan will not affect their profit on the car itself, but it does limit what they can tack on for things like "doc fees" to $100. So if they're used to sticking you for $300-400 for doing nothing, then they are losing a bit of normal profit.

I already generated the PIN and sent it to my dealer. I can't imagine MCA is going to invalidate PINs generated before this change?

You can get a PIN immediately after joining - you just aren't supposed to be able to use it until (now) 90 days of membership. The PIN will still be good, just the parameters of when you can use it are changing.
Dealers are supposed to check (and submit to Ford) proof of eligibility, and the customer has to sign a form saying they are following all rules of the program. I'm not sure what the penalties are for not following the rules.

I'm not concerned about the time, as I joined last July. But will a PIN generated with an Associate Membership before this change still be good? I assume it will be.

My dealer did indeed want to make a copy of my MCA membership card as the card shows when you joined. I don’t think the pin itself shows when it was generated, or at least, they wanted to verify through the info on the MCA membership card that I was eligible.

I contacted them to get that answer -- see my post on the previous page. You can upgrade for $10 without invalidating your current standing.

When I realized that I hadn't bought my Ford stock in time to qualify for the X-plan, I signed up for the MCA. Their website offered no details about any limitations to qualify for the X-plan, so I felt it safe to join only 6 weeks out from delivery (my MME comes in about 2 weeks). I got my pin right away, so I hope that means I don't have to worry about any new restrictions they enact afterwards. We shall find out.
Let us know how it goes. Same situation here and about 3 weeks out.

I saw that, but your question didn't say that you already generated the PIN. Their answer may just apply to "moving forward". I just emailed them for clarification on PINs already generated before today.
