The rear wiper blade on the ME is the tiniest little thing, and only clears a slit of space, leaving a big gap at the top.
I see why they did that. When it sits at the bottom, the glass at the very bottom curves, and if they put the correct size for the rear window, it would overhang a bit when sitting Idle, but it would clear better when swiping. I think the Escape one is even smaller. Maybe I'll look at the Edge blade and see if it would fit the mount. As it is, it is clearing below my line of sight. I'd prefer the slight overhang.

Iā€˜ve been contemplating a similar modification! With the snow about here, cars get filthy when that melts. I dealt with that a lot this past weekend...the rear window is incredibly dirty and thereā€™s just that narrow bit cleaned. I canā€™t see more than the grill of vehicles behind me, itā€™s annoying. Iā€™ll definitely be looking into longer wiper options, let us know what you find!

Went to the parts department. Got a '21 Explorer blade and arm. It is about 14" vs 12" of the ME one. The dealer proceeded to break the ME wiper arm (by being a bit to aggressive with trying to remove the otherwise stuck original blade), and so then bought the Explorer arm and they put the new arm on the old post. Works like a charm!

Now, if you could get the old blade off like a normal car without breaking the mounting post, you could probably fit any new model Ford 14" blade only replacement on there. But be warned, it's stuck on there hard.

Does it clean the full arc of the blade? I put a longer rear blade on a different car once. It fit fine, but the end of the blade didn't have enough force on the back window to actually clean it.

Seems like it does. Slightly more swipe. It hangs ever so slightly away at about 3/4" from the end when it is at rest. You don't even really notice that unless you fiddle with it. I think that is because the bottom of the glass area curves more to the side. The problem with the old one, is that looking straight on from the rear of the car is seems like it swipes enough, but the car is designed so that when you are sitting in the car, the area under the rear overhang looks like regular rear glass to you via the rear view mirror, and the 12" blade doesn't get that area. Anyway, the difference was worth the effort and cost to me. If you can get the old blade out without breaking it like I did, then you can just buy the 14" blade abnd bnot the whole arm like I had too. Bottom line, worth it and works smoothly.

As much effort as I have put into learning about my new car, I'm kind of ashamed to admit that I didn't realize it had a rear wiper until I saw this thread! :D

Interesting, if not broken you think only new 14" Ford blade should do the job right? No need to change the arm? Or get a RainX 14" arm and blade?

Is there a risk that the larger blade may be "too much" for the wiper motor?

nah, it's not that much different in size or weight. The dealer said they make it hard to replace so you have to bring it to the dealer.

yes, but the way this stupid blad and arm are mounted so you can't swing the arm up to do maintenance make it prone to breakingt. The dealer litteraly had to rip it off with plyers and in the process broke the little plastic mounting post. If I had to do it again, I'd probably just unscrew the whole arm and replace it with the Explorer or Edge one again. That way I know it is made for that arm. The old plastic end cap fit the Explore arm mount fine by the way.

Just stopped at advance auto. The 15ā€ trico rear wiper, item number 55150, comes with an adapter that can fit.

I would like a longer blade too, to clear more of the top part of the window, as the OP notes.

Pull gently outward away from the center mounting post until the "click" (parallel to window), then pull down away from the arm. So, slide to click, then drop away, which might be a second click.

When I just put it back, I kind of got two snaps, first when I pushed it back up over the post (use a flashlight), and second, when I pushed it back towards the post to re-install.

Some Explorer rear blades were just the one down (away) slot click (without the MME first slide parallel to the window to the first click) which may be why some are breaking. Just pushing down, away, like the old Explorer snap lock, would break the plastic over the MME wiper slot and/or the pin and plastic of the arm.
