Did a road trip today for 203miles with my FE and got 2.7mi/kWh. It was raining and relatively chilly and I was also driving at 75-80mph. Ended the trip with 36 miles of range left (total of 239miles). Was a fun trip. Drove from the Bay Area to pismo beach.

I’m a little confused. I charged my car to 100% and took it down to 50% SOC after 155 miles. My mi/kWh per the trip computer was 2.7. And my GOM for the remaining 50% was 105mi.

We all know the GOM is way too conservative. But either the SOC or mi/kWh must be wrong also.

Math says that 50% of 88kWh is 44. 155mi / 44kWh = 3.5mi/kWh.

So should I go by SOC, or should I go by the trip computer’s mi/kWh?

2.7 is pretty disappointing if true, but it doesn’t seem to be. My driving is approx 60% highway at 65mph. I do punch it occasionally just for grins but generally drive pretty conservatively to avoid tickets. The weather has been mostly in the 50s and 60s and I haven’t been using climate control hardly at all.

I've wondered about the accuracy of all those readings as well (SOC% and mi/kWh). They're surely more accurate than the wildly variable GOM, but I've seen similar "doesn't add up" numbers from those too.

Within my daily city driving commute, basically dropping off and picking up the kids at school, and grocery runs I'm averaging about 7.1km per Kwh, which is 4.41 miles per Kwh for my American friends.

That works out to 624.8km or 388.23 miles of city driving, which is just crazy impressive!

Anyone else seeing figures like these within the city?

Sometimes the mi/kwh value doesn't update - it will basically get "stuck". If you reset the trip 1 or trip 2 and it doesn't immediately show 99 mi/kwh but retains the previous value then it is "stuck". Like an elevator button I've found if you press/hold it enough while swearing it eventually resets and then works correctly.

I'm basically operating under the assumption that the state of charge is accurate, the average mpk of the current trip the car computes slightly less so, and the GOM is completely worthless. I basically just multiply the state of charge by 3 to get my more accurate miles to empty.

305 mile range divided by 100 equals about 3 miles per percent, since I'm averaging right at 3.5mpk over the life of the car in pretty close to getting the advertised range.

Driving around southeast PA with temperatures varying from 50F to 62F this week, I am averaging between 3.7-4.1 mi/kWh, which drops to 3.1 in the rain with the HVAC on. Mixture of highway and city driving, with speeds up to about 65.
EDIT: AWD Extended Range model.

AWD ER, driving mostly city the past couple of days. Climate control set to auto, 67 degrees. Exterior temps in the low 50s. Was somewhere in the 2.3 mi/kwh

Today I changed the climate control to "off" but kept everything else the same. Went up to around 2.8 mi/kwh. Still not amazing but hoping it's just the car computer "learning" how I drive still (only have about 140 miles on the odometer so far)

After about 1100 miles I'm at 3.7mpk in my Route 1, with a lot of switching between the drive modes and toggling one pedal on/off. Probably about 60/40 highway/City. Quite satisfied thus far. We'll definitely be able to take it from SF to Santa Barbara in an upcoming getaway with only a quick top up while eating lunch.

Somewhere in the 3 mi/kWh range but it is early in learning.

600 miles and mire than half of that is Freeway driving ... 75 mph Spode average in freeways... not being conservative and I am averaging 3.3ish. I think 270 range is possible for my FE in real driving conditions in warm climates unless it’s an all day of uphill etc .
